Jon Moxley did not hesitate to viciously choke out his opponent on AEW Dynamite this week.
The aforementioned star is the masked luchador, Komander. On the July 29 episode of Dynamite, Jon Moxley squared off against Komander with his AEW Continental title on the line. This was a huge opportunity for the former ROH World TV Champion; however, standing in his way was the aggressive leader of The Death Riders. Moreover, Moxley was likely to be irate, considering Will Ospreay struck his faction member, Wheeler Yuta, and officially quit the group at the start of the night.
Despite having a lot on his mind, Moxley was laser-focused on defending his title against Komander. The match was a captivating contest to witness, with Komander having a major upper hand for most of the bout. Moreover, it seemed that he had nearly dethroned the former WWE superstar. However, Moxley came back with his fury against the high-flying luchador.
In the final moments of the bout, Komander was on the turnbuckle and walked the rope to execute a shooting star press, but failed to hit Moxley. The former WWE Champion used the opening to hit a Stomp and Paradigm Shift combination. He immediately locked Komander into the sleeper hold and choked him. With his eyes fading away, he had no option but to submit to Moxley, thereby losing the match, and the Death Riders leader retained his belt.
This comes as a major win for Jon Moxley, even after he and Will Ospreay lost to The Young Bucks at last week’s Redemption 2026 PPV, and Ospreay severed ties with the Death Riders earlier. So, it is likely that the Aerial Assassin might have made enemies out of his former cohorts. With the road to All In 2026 underway, it remains to be seen what is next for Moxley and his faction.
