In a major step toward modernizing cancer care, AstraZeneca India, in collaboration with the Government of Andhra Pradesh, has launched an integrated precision oncology ecosystem that combines AI, Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), and advanced genomics to support earlier detection, accurate diagnosis, personalized treatment, and long-term patient care. The initiative aims to make cutting-edge oncology technologies more accessible through the public healthcare system.
The integrated ecosystem is designed to connect the entire cancer care pathway—from screening and diagnosis to genomic testing, personalized treatment, and follow-up care. By embedding AI into routine clinical workflows, the initiative seeks to reduce diagnostic delays, expand access to precision diagnostics, and help clinicians make more informed, data-driven treatment decisions for patients.

How Will AstraZeneca’s AI Precision Oncology Ecosystem Improve Cancer Detection in India?
According to WHO, cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide, accounting for nearly 10 million deaths in 2024, or nearly one in six deaths. Lung and breast cancers account for a significant proportion of cancer-related deaths, largely because many patients are diagnosed only after the disease has progressed to advanced stages.
By integrating AI across the patient journey, diagnostic delays can be reduced, access to precision diagnostics can be improved and clinicians can deliver personalised, data-driven cancer care.
AstraZeneca India will facilitate the deployment of Qure.ai‘s Artificial Intelligence-powered chest X-ray solution across selected government healthcare facilities to strengthen the early detection of lung cancer.

Patients identified as high-risk will be systematically referred for confirmatory diagnosis and timely clinical intervention, significantly improving the chances of detecting cancer at an earlier and more treatable stage.
The Integrated Genomic Solutions Centre (IGSC) aims to significantly expand access to advanced genomic diagnostics for cancer patients.
