Liverpool have been handed another transfer blow as Maghnes Akliouche has reportedly chosen Paris Saint-Germain over them after previously suffering a similar setback from RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande.
The Reds are keen to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season, but they have only made one signing so far this summer. Last month, a report from The Athletic said Diomande picked Paris Saint-Germain as his next destination amid interest from Liverpool.
Thanks for the submission!
Akliouche has since emerged on Liverpool’s transfer list, with the Merseyside club having made enquiries about the winger’s availability. However, a move for Akliouche now appears unfeasible, with Foot Mercato reporting that the 24-year-old prefers to join Paris Saint-Germain despite interest from Andoni Iraola’s side.
The report adds that the Premier League giants are prepared to submit an offer higher than what PSG already proposed to Monaco. PSG’s offer is understood to be in the region of €40 million, but Liverpool’s improved bid is unlikely to change the sitution as the player has already decided his next destination.
However, a L’Equipe report said Paris Saint-Germain have already seen three offers rejected by Monaco for the 24-year-old but are preparing to send a fourth proposal to their domestic rivals.
Akliouche came through the ranks at Monaco and was promoted to the senior team in 2022. He recorded 18 goal contributions in 43 appearances across all competitions for Monaco last season. His current deal with Monaco will expire in 2028, thanks to a contract extension signed in 2024.
Liverpool schedule talks with PSG over star winger – Reports
According to Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg, Liverpool have scheduled talks with Paris Saint-Germain over the signing of Bradley Barcola. It comes after reports emerged that the Frenchman had decided not to extend his contract with PSG, leaving the door ajar for potential suitors.
PSG are reportedly also open to selling the player but want a fee in the region of £145 million to sanction the player’s departure. The Reds are in the market for a new winger following Mohammed Salah’s departure.
To that end, they have identified Barcola as a top target, and Plettenberg adds that they are now set to do everything they can to sign the player and are considering submitting an opening bid soon.
Barcola, who joined PSG from Olympique Lyon in 2023, has yet to become a regular starter in Luis Enrique’s squad. He started 21 league games last season and came on as a substitute eight times.
