Indonesia open their 2026 ASEAN Championship campaign at home to Cambodia on Monday at the Pakansari Stadium in Bogor. Ranked 118th in the world, the Garuda Team are set to continue their record of having participated in every single edition of the competition yet.
However, they have never actually lifted the cup despite reaching the finals on six occasions, most recently in 2020.
Thanks for the submission!
Last time out, Indonesia lost in the group stages for just the fifth time in ASEAN Championship history, winning just once in four games.
John Herdman’s side will be hoping to start their new campaign on a winning note after having beaten Oman and Mozambique in their warm-up games last month.
They will also be encouraged to see Cambodia lose to Singapore in their opening game at home this week.
Ouk Sovann equalized for the Angkor Warriors early in the second half after Muhammad Shawal had put the Lions in front after the 22nd minute.
But a stoppage-time goal from Ilhan Fandi handed Singapore a late win at their expense as Cambodia were dealt another early blow.
Having never qualified from the group stages of the championship before, the 175th-ranked team have another mountain to climb.

Indonesia vs Cambodia Prediction
The Garuda Team have had a better run in 2026 and come in with plenty of experience in the ASEAN Championship. Cambodia will aim to bounce back after their late defeat to Singapore, but the home side’s resolute defense makes it far easier said than done.
We expect another close match here with Indonesia prevailing narrowly.
Prediction: Indonesia 1-0 Cambodia
