Sunaina Roshan has shared how training regularly and improving her diet transformed her liver health, while her father stressed the importance of daily movement.

From Grade 3 Fatty Liver to Recovery: Sunaina Roshan’s Routine

Sunaina Roshan, daughter of actor and filmmaker Rakesh Roshan, has revealed that regular exercise and healthier eating helped her reverse grade 3 fatty liver.
During a conversation about fitness and healthy ageing, the 54-year-old said that consistently training and improving her diet had transformed her liver health. Her father also spoke about treating exercise, balanced nutrition and sleep as essential parts of his daily routine.

What Does Grade 3 Fatty Liver Mean?

Fatty liver develops when excess fat accumulates inside liver cells. It is commonly associated with obesity, insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol and other metabolic risk factors.(1✔ ✔Trusted Source

Grade 3 fatty liver generally indicates severe fat accumulation on an ultrasound. However, it is not automatically the same as stage 3 fibrosis, which refers to advanced liver scarring. Blood tests, elastography and other medical assessments may be needed to evaluate inflammation or fibrosis.

The condition may produce few or no symptoms in its early stages. Without appropriate management, some people may develop liver inflammation, scarring or more serious complications.

The Two Habits Behind Sunaina’s Liver Health Turnaround

Sunaina credited a combination of physical training and healthier food choices for her improvement, saying:

“When I started training and eating healthy, I actually reversed my grade 3 fatty liver.”

Rakesh Roshan emphasised the importance of nutrition, explaining:

“I feel exercise is only 10 per cent to keep yourself fit. Ninety per cent is the food habit.”

He said changing his eating habits over the past three years had improved his sleep, energy and morning routine. He also encouraged people to remain physically active even on days when they feel unmotivated:

“Never skip movement. Workout is also part of your routine like breakfast, lunch and dinner.”
Regular exercise, gradual weight management and balanced nutrition can help reduce liver fat and improve metabolic health. However, the most suitable plan depends on a person’s overall health and should be discussed with a healthcare professional.(2✔ ✔Trusted Source

Family Support Can Make Healthy Habits Easier to Sustain

The father-daughter conversation also highlighted how open discussions about health can encourage family members to stay active and make better food choices.

Dietitian Garima Goyal noted that support from relatives can make lifestyle changes easier to maintain, particularly when someone is managing weight, improving metabolic health or recovering from a health setback.

She stressed that family conversations should focus on strength, energy, fitness and long-term health rather than appearance or criticism about body weight.

Sunaina’s experience is personal and does not mean the same routine will reverse fatty liver in everyone. Improvement should be confirmed through medical follow-up, laboratory tests and imaging rather than weight loss or symptoms alone(2✔ ✔Trusted Source
