The Los Angeles Rams traded Pro Bowl pass rusher Jared Verse to the Cleveland Browns as part of a package to acquire reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett.
While Garrett’s move to Los Angeles leaves a big defensive hole for the Browns, they are expected to get the best out of Verse, the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2024.
Thanks for the submission!
Although Verse racked up a career-high 7.5 sacks last season, he wasn’t named in ESPN’s top 10 edge rushers ahead of the 2026 NFL training camp. An anonymous NFL executive outlined the potential flaw in Verse’s game.

“Love Verse, but some of the other rushers higher than him have more variety, whereas Verse is all power at times. But he’s only going to get better and have a great career. He’s a beast,” the NFL executive said.

Another executive complimented Verse’s improvement last season, which earned him a Pro Bowl selection for a second consecutive year.
“I thought he improved in his second year with a better rush plan, sets up moves with better timing,” the anonymous executive said.
Browns insider backs Jared Verse to “unite the team” after Myles Garrett’s departure
Myles Garrett set the record for most sacks in a single season, setting the bar high for the incoming Jared Verse. Browns insider Mary Kay Cabot reflected on the “tough act” to follow for Verse.
“Myles Garrett was pretty beloved in the city,” Cabot said. “I think fans loved him. It’s a tough act to follow. But, just in terms of being beloved by his teammates, I do think Jared Verse is going to be someone to unite the team and bring them together, and fosters more of a brotherhood amongst the players than Myles.”
