CM Punk made a surprise return to WWE earlier this week, where he ended up winning his 8th world title with the company. Could Tony Khan have decided to one-up this by having AEW Beach Break feature multiple title changes?

A few days ago on RAW, the Straight Edge Superstar made his first appearance since April after he lost the World Heavyweight Championship to Roman Reigns. He emerged as the surprise replacement for Cody Rhodes in his world title match against Sami Zayn. Punk ended up beating Sami to become the new Undisputed WWE Champion.

Just moments ago at AEW Beach Break, two belts switched hands on the Jacksonville-based promotion. Kyle Fletcher ended up beating Konosuke Takeshita to become the new International Champion, while Kenny Omega dethroned MJF to become the new world champion.

Tony Khan may have seen how much buzz there was surrounding CM Punk and decided to top this by having two unexpected title changes on his show. The All In main event has also drastically changed as it will be Omega who will face Will Ospreay. He has also pulled the trigger on Fletcher, so there would be even greater eyes on the International title scene.

CM Punk set for major change in WWE after becoming champion

WWE still enforces a brand split, which means that some stars are exclusively on either RAW or SmackDown. They are allowed to make appearances on other shows, but they are considered “guests” or simply making a cameo on the other show.

With Roman Reigns being the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, the Bloodline has been assigned to run Monday Night RAW. Despite previously being with the red brand, CM Punk becoming the World Heavyweight Champion means that he’ll now be assigned to Friday Night SmackDown. This change has now been made internally.

CM Punk is now advertised for all Smackdown shows in WWE’s website 👀 Update: he’s also advertised for both house shows this weekend in New Mexico!

It will be interesting to see how things will go for Punk in his new world title reign. He’ll have a new set of possible challengers while being on SmackDown, but for now the likes of Cody Rhodes and Sami Zayn could still be in play in the world title scene.
