AEW has hinted at an interesting new partnership featuring Mercedes Moné and two top stars of the women’s division. The duo suddenly came out to Moné’s aid earlier tonight.
Earlier tonight at Beach Break, the women’s world title scene for Redemption was decided after the returning Willow Nightingale won the Casino Gauntlet match. She came in as a later entrant and took advantage of her momentum to quickly pull off a pin.
She celebrated as she scored a win in her first appearance in almost two months. But this would not last long, as she was blindsided by Thekla. The women’s world champion looked to send a message to her next challenger this early on. The Toxic Spider’s gloating would also not last long, as she was blindsided by Mercedes Moné.
The CEO will be the one challenging for the women’s world title at All In: Wembley, and she seemed to be reminding Willow and Thekla that she was still in play in this situation. Despite being around, the Triangle of Madness could not help their leader, as they were taken out by Divine Dominion. They seemed to be around at Moné’s behest, a sign that they had formed a partnership of sorts.
Julia Hart and Skye Blue have been a factor in some of Thekla’s matches, and their interference has helped her keep her hold on the belt. This seemed to be what prompted Mercedes Moné to look for her own insurance policy.
The AEW Women’s World Championship title scene has just made some interesting developments as all three of these top stars will be in play for the belt. Mercedes Moné has made a bold move as she looks to guarantee that she will win the belt that has eluded her for a year now. But this will be easier said than done.
