Pundit Jamie O’Hara slammed co-host Jason Cundy for supporting Argentina in the FIFA World Cup final. He accused the Argentine players of mocking England players and fans and backed Spain to win the trophy.
Cundy and O’Hara were discussing the 2026 FIFA World Cup final on TalkSPORT’s The Sports Bar when the former expressed his admiration for Lionel Messi and tipped La Albiceleste to lift the title.
Thanks for the submission!
“I actually wouldn’t mind if Argentina won it,” he said. “In fact you know what I want Argentina to win it. I love seeing Messi, he is the greatest player ever. I’d rather him than Rodri.”
However, Cundy’s choice did not sit well with O’Hara, who replied:
“I do love Messi, but what I would say is the antics that I saw from Argentina the other night against us, the way that they mocked us, I’ve seen the social media clips of Valentino Barco running on the pitch in front of the England players, Jude Bellingham ends up giving him a slap. I see Romero fist pumping in front of Bellingham’s face.”
Interrupting him, Cundy sharply responded:
“Don’t shove your pop at me over it!”
O’Hara continued:
“The way they approached the game, they were horrible. The housery, you know the way they went after the England players, the way they celebrated in their faces, the Falkland flag.”
Cundy interjected again, saying:
“You’ve gone soft, who cares?
O’Hara went on:
“I’m just saying, I love Messi, and I love the way they play.”
Cundy then sharply asked:
“Who’s going to win the final?”
“I want Spain to win, O’Hara replied. “Because of the way they [Argentina] acted. Enzo Fernandes today put up a story of him laughing with Wonderworld as the story.”
Cundy replied:
“That’s banter, that is what it should be. That’s how they are.”
O’Hara continued:
“I think they were mocking us. There is no class from them. I love what Argentina is about, I do. I love their team effort, and I love their mentality, and I love Messi. But they’re classless, they are!”
Cundy replied:
“Who cares about class? We’d have done the same or even more than them.”
“I’d rather Spain win it,” O’Hara chimed in.
“I want Argentina to win it. I want Messi, the greatest player ever,” Cundy disagreed.
The two pundits then agreed that England needs to do better going forward and stick it to their rivals, who constantly mock them.
Fans sign petition to kick Argentina out of 2026 FIFA World Cup ahead of final vs Spain
Over 17 million fans have signed a petition calling for Argentina to be kicked out of the 2026 FIFA World Cup ahead of Sunday’s final with Spain. The petition pointed out 10 specific reasons, alleging obvious bias from FIFA and referees towards Lionel Scaloni’s side.
La Albiceleste are looking to become the third team in FIFA World Cup history to win back-to-back titles. Lionel Messi could be the first captain to win consecutive World Cups, while coach Scaloni could become the second manager to win the prestigious trophy twice.
