Harry Kane has sent a message to England fans ahead of the FIFA World Cup clash against Argentina. The striker will lead the side to yet another semifinal and aim to guide them to the final this time.

Taking to social media, Kane posted a few images from the training session. He gave it a simple caption, which read, “Ready to give it our all”, along with three lion emojis.

The forward has never faced Argentina in his career, and this will be the first time the two sides face off since 2005. He was speaking to ITV ahead of the game, admitting that it was a massive fixture and they were ready to face the defending champions. He said:

“I mean, what a game, what an occasion to play one of the best teams, the reigning world champions, in a semifinal of a World Cup. In these moments, I think back to being a kid and having dreams and what it’d be like to play in these games. This is as big as it gets, so I’m really excited for this week. I think it’s going to be a special game and what a tough team to play against but hopefully that brings the best out in us.”

The two nations have a history, with tensions over the Falklands War in 1982, but Harry Kane has insisted that the players cannot think about it. He said that they need to keep their focus on what they can do on the pitch and said:

“I think it’s not something you want to focus too much on, surrounding the history. Yeah, that’s all part of it and that’s what you guys [in the media] will talk about, the fans will be involved in. But from a player’s point of view it’s us against a great team, who are smart, who are tactical, who know how to buy fouls, know how to slow the game down.”

“Like many different teams you come up against throughout your whole career. So, it’s England versus Argentina, it’s two of the biggest nations going toe to toe. Two giants in the semifinal of a World Cup. The rest of it is just a small part.”

Argentina have beaten England in the last two FIFA World Cup meetings, in 1986 and 1998, the former of which included the Hand of God.

Harry Kane has been in red-hot form this summer at the FIFA World Cup

Harry Kane has been leading the attack for England once again this summer at the FIFA World Cup. The striker has six of the 13 goals scored by the Three Lions, with Jude Bellingham scoring six more.

Harry Kane is in the running for the Golden Boot, sitting two goals behind today’s opponent, Lionel Messi, and Kylian Mbappe, who have scored eight goals each.
