Colin Cowherd has declared he is officially selling his stock in Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson while declaring his preference for Bo Nix. Cowherd’s declaration came on his show, The Herd, on Tuesday, following Jackson’s drop on the NFL Network top 100 players list.

The 29-year-old quarterback dropped 67 spots to land at No. 69 on the list, prompting questions about his elite status in the league. In Cowherd’s estimation, the two-time MVP has lost that status.

“The old saying, ‘I trust somebody until I don’t trust somebody,'” said Cowherd. “I no longer trust Lamar Jackson in the big spot. I’m selling my stock. That doesn’t mean he’s a bad quarterback or even average. He’s better than average. Way better than average. But I probably held my stock for a year too long.”

The analyst went on to highlight his preference for Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix over Jackson in a clutch moment.

“I’d take Bo Nix today in a fourth-quarter come-from-behind situation,” Cowherd said “Bo Nix over Lamar Jackson. Why? Because the analytics and data tell you he’s better. I watched Bo Nix go toe with Josh Allen in a divisional-round playoff game with a broken ankle. A kid against the best player in the league.”

Why has Lamar Jackson’s stock dropped so low?

Nix has been an indispensable part of the Broncos’ offense, helping the $6.8 billion-valued (Forbes) team to a 14-win campaign in 2025. In contrast, Lamar Jackson has a trying campaign last season.

The 29-year-old battled through an injury-riddled year behind a poor offensive line. He ultimately missed four games due to injury, a hamstring injury early on and a back contusion later in the season.

However, even his presence was not as influential as it used to be. His signature rushing production took a significant hit as he finished the year with a career-low 349 yards on the ground.

His aerial threat was also significantly reduced, as he was forced to take 36 sacks, the second most in his career. Meanwhile, he averaged just 196.1 passing yards per game to finish the season with 2,549 yards, 21 touchdowns, and seven interceptions.

Following the drop in his rating by leading analysts like Cowherd, fans can anticipate a statement performance from Jackson this fall. With less time spent in the medical tent and an improved offensive line, the quarterback has a springboard to relaunch.
