Mani, who recently stepped down as CEO – Digital at JioStar, is set to join OpenAI as Managing Director for Asia Pacific. He chaired the committee before Chatterjee’s appointment.
Chatterjee said India’s digital entertainment ecosystem is entering a phase of rapid growth, driven by the convergence of technology, creativity and changing consumer behaviour. He stressed the need for greater collaboration among platforms, creators, brands and policymakers to foster innovation, build trust and harness emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.
“Consumers, of course, remain at the centre of this evolution – continuously shaping how we create, distribute and experience entertainment. I look forward to working with the industry to help unlock the next phase of growth and strengthen India’s position as a leader in digital entertainment,” he added.
Deepit Purkayastha, co-founder and CEO of Inshorts, will continue as co-chair of the committee.
IAMAI said the Digital Entertainment Committee serves as a platform for industry stakeholders to engage on policy, regulatory and business issues affecting India’s streaming and digital media ecosystem, while promoting innovation and industry growth.
