WWE held two PLEs this weekend, while two other promotions (AEW Forbidden Door and TNA Slammiversary) competed for the attention of the wrestling world as well. Would NXT be able to follow WWE Night of Champions? Let’s find out together.

The build to this one was strong and had more title bouts than NOC, which shouldn’t be the case. Five championship bouts, to be precise, with two grudge matches filling out the rest of the card.

Here are the full results for WWE NXT Great American Bash:

    • Tony D’Angelo defeated Naraku via pinfall with the Dead to Rights to retain the NXT Men’s Championship.
    • Zaria defeated Tatum Paxley via pinfall with the F-5 to retain the NXT Women’s North American Championship.
    • Shiloh Hill defeated Tristan Angels via pinfall with Whisper to the Beast.
    • Saquon Shugars defeated Dion Lennox via pinfall with the reverse diving leg drop.
    • Myles Borne defeated Tavion Heights via pinfall with the Borne Again to retain the WWE NXT Men’s North American Championship.
    • Kendal Grey defeated Lola Vice via pinfall with the Shades of Grey to win the WWE NXT Women’s Championship.

We started the show with a recent WWE signee taking on the top dog of WWE NXT! Last Tuesday, Naraku nearly put Tony D’Angelo on the shelf with a fireball. The champion returned at the end of the night, confirming this match would take place, injury or not.

WWE NXT Men’s Championship: Naraku vs Tony D’Angelo (c)

Tony D’Angelo started this title bout off by driving a chair-wielding Naraku through a wall with a massive spear!! Naraku caught Tony on his blindside with a boot as he re-entered the ring, and gouged at the eye when the champion went for a spinebuster.

The referee nearly threw the match out, but Tony stopped him. Seemed like a bad decision. Naraku hit his STO finish onto the apron and continued to dig at the champ’s eye. Throughout the break, Naraku dominated Tony D, but could not put the man down. Naraku bit his way out of an STF and planted him with a big Widowmaker (Fireman’s carry spinebuster), but it wasn’t enough.

D’Angelo finally fired up, driving his challenger into the mat with a huge pop-up Oklahoma Stampede powerslam. German suplex from Naraku, but Tony shot to his feet invigorated! Dead to Rights spinebuster!!

Tony D’Angelo defeated Naraku via pinfall with Dead to Rights to retain the WWE Men’s NXT Championship.

Grade: B-. The two had a good bit of chemistry, honestly. The reason the grade is this low is that this was oddly short. It was brutal and an exciting opener. Just left me wanting a lot more than I’d like. Maybe it had to do with this being on the CW instead of a streaming service, meaning a commercial break took out a good chunk of the action. Still, a strong way to start the night.

WWE NXT Women’s North American Championship: Tatum Paxley vs Zaria (c)

The Australian monster dominated the former champion early. Zaria bounced Tatum Paxley around the ring and attempted to choke the challenger out through the ropes. Tatum managed to turn things around when she pulled Zaria down under the apron, rocking her with a big springboard enziguri off the apron.

Zaria halted her momentum quickly when Tatum went for a sleeper on the floor. The champion picked her up and dropped down, driving all of her weight onto Tatum’s body. Zaria placed Tatum’s body across the top turnbuckle and nearly snapped her in half with a brutal stretch. Tatum used her flexibility to catch Zaria with a series of kicks, though, and sent the champ crashing to the floor.

A big diving crossbody off the top took Zaria down, and Tatum fired up. A roundhouse rocked Zaria, and a rebound German suplex spiked her. Tatum took Zaria up and dropped her with a huge superplex, but Zaria rose to her feet and cut Tatum in half with a devastating spear!!

Zaria dragged Tatum to the top rope by her neck, attempting to choke the life out of her. Tatum won a striking exchange, leaving Zaria in the tree of woe. As Tatum set up for a Coast to Coast, Zaria lifted herself out of that position, and they went to war on the apron. Tatum countered an F-5, instead sending Zaria to the floor, splattering with a Code Red!

The pair fought over the belt, which was on a pedestal near the ring. Tatum ended up getting the better of her, driving her into the floor with the Cemetery Drive. Back in the ring, another Cemetery Drive!!

1-2-no!! Zaria kicked out!! Third Cemetery Drive was blocked, and Zaria cut Tatum in half with another spear!! F-5!! 1-2-KICKOUT!! Tatum was unable to defend herself from a mounted assault, however. Zaria battered the former champion and curb stomped her before finishing the match with another F-5.

Zaria defeated Tatum Paxley via pinfall with the F-5 to retain the WWE NXT Women’s North American Championship.

Grade: A. This was, to put it simply, awesome. Zaria put the challenger through hell, and Tatum was less than half a second away from slaying NXT’s monster. It’s been rumored that Tatum is leaving for the main roster soon, and if that’s the case, this was an incredible match to go out on.

Backstage, Wren Sinclair and Kendal Grey were hyping one another up. The WrenQCC were prepared to leave tonight with two championships. Wren would defend the WWE Women’s Speed Title against Arianna Grace, while Kendal had a main event NXT Women’s Title bout with Lola Vice. It’s worth noting that Lola also defended the title against La Hiedra on last night’s AAA.

Backstage, WWE NXT GM Robert Stone told Vanity Project that they’d be facing punishment on NXT this week. Jackson Drake would take on Mason Rook, while the NXT Tag Team Champions Swipe Right faced AAA’s El Hijo del Dr. Wagner and Galano.

    Shiloh Hill vs Tristan Angels

Before this match, LFG coach Kevin Owens and Busted Open host Dave Lagreca were asked about the show. Owens put his money on Angels, shouting down his doubters in the crowd and stating, “HE’S REALLY GOOD!! HE’S REALLY GOOD!!”

Wade Barrett, who filled in for Booker T on commentary tonight, stated that Tristan Angels got his juices flowing, which… alright, I guess. Angels got a lotta boos from this crowd, and Shiloh was a huge babyface for the fans. These two newer talents have gotten over with the NXT faithful well.

Shiloh started with a big shoulder tackle that sent Angels to the floor. The toothless wonder battered Angels around the ring and sent him overhead with a huge back body drop as we cut to break.

When we returned, Shiloh Hill dragged Tristan Angels under the ring. A camera operator apparently expected that, as we saw Angel answer a phone call in the dark. “The fog is coming,” repeated a strange voice, before Hill choked him out. Tristan made it out of the ring, only for Shiloh to appear out of nowhere for another choke.

Tristan broke free and avoided a dive off the stairs from Hill. He pulled the stairs to the middle of the apron, looking for a suplex over the ropes. Shiloh avoided that situation, but ate a nasty enziguri from his opponent for a two-count.

When we came back, Shiloh used the stairs to set up a spear through the ropes. Angels recovered, catching a diving Shiloh with a Codebreaker. Shiloh avoided Tristan’s big knee and, in the end, hit the Whisper to the Beast (Half-nelson into a neckbreaker) off the second rope.

Shiloh Hill defeated Tristan Angels via pinfall with the Whisper to the Beast.

Grade: C+. Solid stuff. These two have a bright future in NXT. It got a little weird in the middle and kind of slowed stuff down a bit too much. By the end, though, the fans were happy to see Mr. NXT Shiloh Hill pick up a big PLE win.

Backstage, Natalya was hyping up her stable of Layla Diggs, Karmen Petrovic (who recently debuted in AAA with the new Los Perros del Mal), and new WWE Evolve Women’s Champion Nikkita Lyons. Leila thought Nattie should give Jaida Parker a break, and Nattie responded, claiming that Jaida was a punk. Katana will face Jaida Parker on WWE NXT this week.

Speaking of this week, GM Robert Stone revealed that, thanks to his win over Keanu Carver last Tuesday, he earned a shot at AAA Latin American Champion El Hijo del Vikingo. He’ll face Vikingo in two days.

WWE Women’s Speed Championship: Arianna Grace w/Birthright vs Wren Sinclair (c)

The Speed matches were normally three minutes, but title bouts get extended to five. Wren Sinclair spent the early seconds of the match attempting to outpace her challenger, nearly getting a pin 30 seconds in with a flying facebuster.

Grace stunned Wren with an elbow and planted her with a rolling fisherman’s neckbreaker for a near fall. The former TNA Knockouts World Champion ate a kick to the gut on the apron, collapsing to the floor. She responded by driving the champ’s spine into the apron, and followed with a flying twisting elbow.

Wren’s knees became a target for Grace, as the champion has been in and out of action with repeated injuries. With a minute and a half left, Wren countered a superplex, planting Grace face-first on the mat. A diving crossbody followed, and Wren began to fire up.

Sinclair’s former No Quarter Catch Crew leader, Charlie Dempsey, distracted her, earning him a big slap to the face. Grace rolled her up, but couldn’t get the win. Wren responded with the Bangarang and tapped out Grace with the Cattle Mutilation!!

Wren Sinclair defeated Arianna Grace via submission with the Cattle Mutilation to retain the WWE Women’s Speed Title.

Grade: B. Wren’s been great for a while now, but Arianna stepped up in a match I really didn’t think she could handle. A fast-paced, near five-minutes of action, where it wasn’t clear who was walking out with gold.

    Saquon Shugars vs Dion Lennox

Darkstate dominated WWE for the better part of 2025 and early 2026. However, after losing the WWE NXT Tag Team Titles, the crew began to struggle. Now, after taking out two of the three men who betrayed him, Saquon Shugars looked for revenge at WWE’s Great American Bash.

Shugars started strong, battering the former football player with big rights. A neckbreaker dropped Lennox, but only earned a one-count. A Rude Awakening dropped Dion, forcing him to roll to the apron while Cutler James and Osiris Grifin appeared in the entrance way. The momentary distraction allowed Lennox to take over, blindsiding him and spiking him with a uranage slam for a two-count.

Lennox dominated during the break, nearly ripping his former WWE NXT Tag Champion partner’s arms out of their sockets. A big spinebuster nearly put Shugars through the mat. An inverted Figure 4 couldn’t force Shugars to submit, and he managed to send his one-time friend away long enough to get to his feet.

A release suplex followed by a handspring dropkick left Dion dazed. Saquon fired up, knocking Lennox off the top with a leaping enziguri. A slingshot leg drop earned him a two-count. Lennox countered a top rope maneuver, dropping Saquon spine-first on the post. A big slam followed, but Saquon kicked out.

Lennox hammered Saquon with two heavy lariats that would make the late Joe Doering proud, but it wasn’t enough. Shugars’ sheer force of will powered him through this. Lennox fell out of some kind of Iconoclasm that Shugars was going for, leading to Shugars finishing things with a reverse diving leg drop.

Saquon Shugars defeated Dion Lennox via pinfall with a reverse diving leg drop.

Grade: C+. Solid stuff, and clearly not the end of this feud. Not sure what Shugars was actually going for at the end there, but it made the ending a bit wonky. This was Shugars’ coming-out party as a singles star, and it wasn’t perfect, but it worked out well enough.

Immediately after the match, DarkState jumped Shugars. They planted him with the double powerbomb, then held him still while Dion pelted him with Shugars’ own bat. There were some stiff shots to the sternum, back, and head. We may not see Saquon Shugars for a while.

Former WWE NXT Champion Tatum Paxley was interviewed backstage, and she was struggling with her loss. The inaugural WWE NXT Women’s NA Champion, Kelani Jordan, came in and called Tatum pathetic for playing the victim, leading to a big brawl.

With that, it didn’t look like Tatum Paxley was moving up just yet.

WWE NXT Men’s North American Championship: Tavion Heights vs Myles Borne (c)

The other two former members of No Quarter Catch Crew were out next. Myles Borne found singles success after leaving the group, nearly winning the WWE NXT Men’s Championship from Oba Femi, and capturing the Men’s North American Championship earlier this year. Tonight, Tavion had the opportunity to reach the HEIGHTS many dreamed of.

Heights was one of a few current WWE Superstars who had an Olympic background, which Vic Joseph and Wade Barrett mentioned as Heights tried to wrestle his friend to the ground. A takedown brought the champ to the mat, but he bridged out, leading to a few pinfall attempts. A meeting of the minds dropped both men, as they ran head-first into one another.

Borne, known to some WWE fans as “Baby Randy“, knocked Heights to the floor with a picture-perfect dropkick before the commercial. When we came back, the mat-wrestling contest had ended, as Tavion laid out Myles with a big clothesline. A rolling fireman’s carry drop was followed by a gutwrench suplex, giving Tavion a nearfall over the champ.

Heights dominated the man that many WWE Superstars pegged as a future star, focusing heavily on the left arm. Borne got to his feet, countering an armbar with a northern lights suplex. Heights went to the throat, a pretty dirty tactic for a friend to pull out. An awkward Chaos Theory back suplex dropped Myles for a near fall.

Out of another break, a big diving splash earned Tavion another two-count. A German suplex spiked Heights, but he avoided the dropkick. As Heights went for another fireman’s carry maneuver, Myles popped out of it, countering in mid-air with a Borne Again.

Myles Borne defeated Tavion Heights via pinfall with the Borne Again to retain the WWE NXT Men’s North American Championship.

Grade: B-. A solid mat-based contest between two guys who came from a group specializing in that. Both these dudes have a ton of potential.

After the match, Myles was interviewed. He said that he and Tavion constantly pushed one another to be better, and one day, Tavion will hold WWE gold. It just wasn’t tonight. Myles was four months into his reign and planned to hold the gold for a long time.

WWE NXT Women’s Championship: Kendal Grey vs Lola Vice (c)

Before the match, WWE gave us a great video package highlighting the different backgrounds of former WWE Evolve Women’s Champion Kendal Grey and current WWE NXT Women’s Champion Lola Vice. Grey was an elite amateur wrestler and jiu-jitsu practitioner, while Lola went 4-1 in Bellator MMA before jumping to pro wrestling. Two “cross-over competitors” were facing off for the top prize on the brand. Expectations were high.

Lola Vice caught Kendal Grey in an early armbar, but couldn’t keep it locked in. A fallaway slam earned her a two-count over her challenger. Vice earned jeers from the crowd as she repeatedly pelted Grey with stiff kicks to the sternum. Vice blocked a roll-up and caught Grey mid-kip-up with a roundhouse to the face. Grey was rocked, but not out.

A series of arm drags sent the challenger around the ring, but Kendal countered the final one, catching Lola in a side headlock. Vice fought out of Grey’s grip and made it to the floor. As Grey tossed Kendal back inside, Kelani Jordan rushed the ring. She nearly took out Grey, but the challenger was saved by her WrenQC partner and WWE Women’s Speed Champion, Wren Sinclair.

Unfortunately, the distraction was enough. Lola caught Grey with a spinning roundhouse to the gut, sending her crashing to the floor as we cut to commercial.

We came back to Kendal positioned in the corner. As Lola set up for her running hip attack, Vic Joseph said, “Wherever Booker T is, he’s loving this.” Kendal took a few hip attacks, but just kept coming. Vice rocked her challenger with a striking combo and caught Grey going for a springboard with a windmill kick, again to the gut.

Grey caught Lola in an ankle lock on the floor. Lola rolled through, and Kendal jumped to the barricade, coming down on Lola with Shades of Grey (diving flatliner). Back in the ring, Kendal countered a superkick with another ankle lock! Lola was in the middle of the ring, but managed to roll through and catch the challenger in an ankle lock of her own.

Kendal Grey responded with an armbar, and Lola Vice countered with one of her own. It was hold-for-hold. Kendal’s mistake was going for a spinning back elbow, allowing Lola to trap her with a rear-naked choke. And, follow me here, Kendal escaped and locked in her own rear naked choke. Lola broke free, avoided a moonsault, and rocked Kendal with another windmill kick.

A triangle choke trapped Kendal. The challenger escaped, and Lola rocked her with the spinning back fist!! Kendal bounced off the ropes for a spinning back elbow!! Both women collapsed on the mat, their arms on top of one another!

1-2-kickouts!! Kendal ducked another strike and bounced out of the corner with Shades of Grey!!

Kendal Grey defeated Lola Vice via pinfall with Shades of Grey to win the WWE NXT Women’s Championship.

Grade: B+. Shocked they went that direction, if I’m being honest, but it was a welcome surprise. Lola had a good run, but she’s gotta be on the way up soon. Kendal Grey was picked by Superstars, veterans, and more as a future mega star. She’s got the title now. It’s time for her to prove it.

Wren Sinclair rushed the ring and embraced her partner. The stable may be two-women strong, but it’s two women who are champions. The WrenQCC were now the top dogs of the Tuesday night brand.

Overall Grade: B. The weakest matches were, at worst, fun. But when the right competitors met one another, we got some great in-ring action here. WWE Great American Bash was, unfortunately, placed on a weekend full of major PLEs from three different promotions. It probably won’t end up on a “best of” list by the end of the year, but it’s going to be considered an underrated event, as well as the night that a new star was born in Kendal Grey.
