    A chicken wing helped Shelton Benjamin become best friends with top WWE star

    AEW star Shelton Benjamin became friends with a top WWE name courtesy of a chicken wing in a surprising revelation.

    The aforementioned star who revealed the same is SmackDown star Michin. She and Shelton Benjamin have often been seen having insulting yet comedic exchanges on social media. At the same time, both wrestling stars are known to be close acquaintances to this date, even when they are working for rival promotions.

    In a recent appearance on What’s Your Story? With Steph McMahon, Michin reflected on how she and Benjamin first became friends. The 37-year-old star said that Benjamin and his former partner, Charlie Haas, were brought to a wrestling show she was working in the early 2010s, where they met.

    The show organizers had set up a catering area for the WWE names brought to the show, where Michin was in line for a chicken wing, and the former Intercontinental Champion was behind her. She said they both went to grab a wing at the same time and then started talking.

    “This was in 2010 or 2011, I just started doing shows, and this one show in Maryland I think I wrestled Mickie James, and they brought in Shelton and Charlie (Haas) and I think because they brought in all the WWE people they actually had catering. So of course I had my plate and I’m in the line for chicken wings and Shelton’s right behind me and we both go to grab a chicken wing at the same time.     In the same interview, Michin said that she and Shelton Benjamin had been friends for almost two decades. The SmackDown star added that she considered the Gold Standard a big brother, and her father even tried to get Benjamin and her sister together.

    “He’s been in my life almost two decades now, my family loves him, he is my family. We’re tight. I always say that’s my big brother, my family loves him. My dad tried to get him and my sister to get together.” [H/T: WON]

    While they both continue to navigate their careers in different promotions today, it can be said that their friendship has stood the test of time.
