The interest amount will be credited to more than 70 million contributing EPF members by the end of this month, the official said. “The finance ministry has given its concurrence to 8.25% rate of interest fixed by the Central Board of Trustees (CBT).”
The CBT is the apex decision-making body of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO).
The ministry has approved UPI-based withdrawals of EPF savings under proposed EPFO 3.0 platform. EPFO subscribers will soon be able to withdraw provident fund money through UPI apps and ATMs, reducing paperwork and processing delays.
The labour ministry is expected to notify the changes by the end of this month, people aware of the discussions said.
