How to complete The Village with Bad Food (Chapter 1)

The Village with Bad Food (Chapter 1) kicks off the Dave the Diver In the Jungle DLC. In the Prologue, To a New Place, Dr. Bacon mentions that a loud noise was heard in the area and that one of his researchers was investigating that place. He asks for the help of Dave because they need to do an underwater exploration of a lake in the jungle. Dave, Cobra, Bancho, and Dr. Bacon decide to go on the expedition to Utara Village.

In this walkthrough guide, we will jot down all the main objectives to complete The Village with Bad Food (Chapter 1) of Dave the Diver In the Jungle DLC.

Welcome to the Jungle

The DLC’s Prologue shows Dr. Bacon connecting with Dave and Cobra about the investigation. Then the latter two leave to find and convince Bancho in the Sushi Bar (interact with the boat’s engine room and select Sushi). Once you have interacted with Bancho, bring up your phone (Esc on PC), select Call, and call Dr. Bacon. Choose “I’m Ready”.

Once the cutscene ends, you will have the following information: Muna will give you the Jungle Gun, a mysterious ancient creature has washed up on the beach by the village, and the lake’s water has gotten murky after frequent earthquakes. The Jungle Gun can be a Sniper Rifle, a normal Rifle, a Shotgun, and a Catching Net. You can cycle through each during your dive, with each having its own ammo set.

Get a Tilapia Fish

After the cutscene, talk to the Village Chief standing in front of a dilapidated house. Your first objective is to get a Tilapia Fish. Dive into the lake. You will find Tilapia around 5-10m depth with a yellow exclamation point over its head marking its significance to the objective. Aim with your harpoon (RMB on PC), shoot (LMB on PC), and then complete the catch by filling in the gauge with the button prompt (spacebar on PC).

With the Tilapia caught, you now need to talk to Bancho. Once your dive is over, get out of the lake by going to the surface and choosing to return to the village. You can find Bancho in the centre of the village, straight up from where the diving deck is.

Once the cutscene is over, Muna will give you the Purification Filter that will help you tackle the Hydrogen Sulphide in the lake. This will conclude Chapter 1 of Dave the Diver In the Jungle DLC and directly start Chapter 2, Jungle Life.
