Veteran defensive end Cam Jordan announced this week that he is returning to the New Orleans Saints for his final NFL season. He signed a one-year deal with the Saints on Tuesday.

Saints reporter Erin Summers reported on X that Jordan is returning to the Saints at his son’s request.

“Cam Jordan’s son Tank said for his birthday, he told his Dad he wanted to return to the #Saints,” she wrote.

Jordan confirmed the report in an X post, writing:

“And that’ll do it for me.”

Jordan, who is returning for his 16th year with the Saints, said general Manager Mickey Loomis helped him in negotiations for a final season with the franchise in 2026.

“What it comes down to is lifestyle,” Jordan said on Tuesday. “It’s the idea that I could have played for the same team for my entire career. The loyalty streak has always run deep with me, and I think a couple of years ago me and Mickey sat down and it was like, ‘Look, man, the way you’ve played, the way you’ve handled yourself, you’ll always have a job here.’

“Now, it may not be what I think I’m worth or whatever it is, but it’s always been the idea that we’ve had an open line of communication. This is where I wanted to be, and [I] got back here.”
