Maxx Crosby had an interesting offseason heading into his eighth year in the NFL. Back in March, the Baltimore Ravens gave up two first-round picks to the Raiders in a trade for the defensive end. However, the deal fell through after the five-time Pro Bowler reportedly failed his physicals.
Crosby remained with the Las Vegas Raiders, while the Ravens signed Trey Hendrickson. However, according to Grant Cohn’s article on Monday, one NFC team is still looking to potentially acquire Crosby.
Thanks for the submission!
Cohn wrote that the San Francisco 49ers, who are worth $8.6 billion (as per Forbes), could potentially make a move for the Raiders star. He also highlighted how coach Kyle Shanahan and his team do not properly utilize the draft and could give up a few picks to get a veteran player on the team.

“According to source, they (the 49ers) are one of the several teams still interested in trading for Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby,” Cohn wrote. “This doesn’t mean a trade is imminent. … But if and when the Raiders do indeed trade Crosby, they will probably trade him for a first-round pick and a second-round pick, or a first and a player. And the 49ers can afford that price.

“This past season, he (Crosby) tore his meniscus and had surgery to repair it. Teams will wait to see how he recovers before trading a first-round pick for him. But assuming he plays well and the 49ers star the season hot, dont’ be surprised if they trade for Crosby. Why not? They’re awful at drafting. Trade those premium picks for a proven player.”
The Raiders drafted Maxx Crosby with the No. 106 pick in 2019. He established himself as a key player on defense over the years. In seven seasons, he recorded 439 tackles, 69.5 sacks and 133 tackles for loss. He agreed to a three-year, $106.5 million extension with the team in March 2025.

Maxx Crosby breaks silence on failed Ravens trade
It’s been three months since the trade with the Ravens for Maxx Crosby fell through. During an interview with the press last Wednesday, the defensive end shared his thoughts on the situation.
Crosby said that he’s moved on from that incident and is now focused on having a great season with the Raiders.
“It’s water under the bridge,” Crosby said. “It’s a long time ago. A lot of things I learned about what’s going on and what this league can bring. A lot of adversity, a lot of different things you can’t really anticipate. But I’ve been through a lot in my life. It’s nothing to me.
“I’m here and I want to be here and I’m excited to be here. I’ve got a lot of work to do.”
After a disappointing 3-14 2025 campaign, the Raiders fired Pete Carroll after just one season. In February, they finalized a deal to bring in former Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak as his replacement.
The Raiders will face the Miami Dolphins at home in Week 1 on Sept. 13 at 4:25 p.m. ET.
