La Liga giants Real Madrid have reportedly received a huge blow in their pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur star Pedro Porro, who has recently extended his contract at his club.

Earlier this month, transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano claimed that Los Merengues are interested in signing a new right-back this summer, with Dani Carvajal likely to depart. He named Porro as one of the three full-backs who are being monitored by Jose Mourinho’s side now.

Now, according to the Italian, Porro has signed a new contract at Spurs, squashing rumours of a possible exit this summer. His new deal is valid until June 2031, with an option of a one-year extension until June 2032.

Porro, 26, has emerged as one of the best right-backs in the Premier League since his arrival at Tottenham Hotspur in January 2023. He relished a decent season last time around, registering two goals and six assists in 47 matches in all competitions for Roberto De Zerbi’s outfit.

Despite his club achieving two straight 17th-placed finishes in the Premier League, Porro is expected to continue at Spurs under De Zerbi. The 18-cap Spain star, who is set to compete in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, is regarded one of the leaders in his club’s dressing room as well.

Real Madrid, on the other hand, are expected to push more to acquire Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries in the summer window. They have Trent Alexander-Arnold as the only senior right-back option in their squad right now.

Pepe backs Real Madrid to win titles next term

Real Madrid legend Pepe has opened up on Jose Mourinho returning to his former team’s dugout ahead of the upcoming 2026-27 term. He said after a recent charity game (h/t Madrid Universal):

“The most important thing is that the club is united. It was a crucial moment to foster that unity between the club, the fans and players. Mourinho is a key figure in ensuring everyone is on the same page and to help Madrid return to glory. I am sure Real Madrid will win titles again.”

When asked to address the speculations about him becoming Mourinho’s assistant coach, the former Portuguese centre-back responded:

“It’s all speculation. I woke up one morning and wondered what was going on, I hadn’t heard a thing.”

Meanwhile, Real Madrid are allegedly interested in signing Liverpool ace Ibrahima Konate and Manchester City star Bernardo Silva on two Bosman moves soon. The La Liga team are likely to chop and change their star-studded squad after failing to lift a single trophy in the last campaign.
