Former NFL linebacker Emmanuel Acho weighed in on the ongoing saga between Brandon Aiyuk and the San Francisco 49ers. Acho offered an assessment of Aiyuk’s situation on the Speakeasy podcast late on Tuesday night following the receiver’s recent social media attacks on the 49ers.

Aiyuk’s latest attack on the 49ers came in a video he posted to Instagram on Tuesday. In the 30-second clip, the 28-year-old called the franchise “stupid” and “dumb” for the way they handled his recent contract extension.

“You wanna know why they really mad, though?” he asked. “They mad ‘cause they stupid. They dumb. They mad that they paid me $50 million in eight months and then voided my guarantees for 2027.”

Brandon Aiyuk also noted confidently that he’ll be playing for a new team in 2027. He said this against the backdrop of his recent social media posts, where he was donning a Washington Commanders hat.

While reacting to Aiyuk’s latest post about the 49ers, Acho disagreed with the wideout’s description of the franchise as “stupid” and “dumb.” The former Eagles linebacker pointed out that it was absurd to claim an ownership group worth $8.4 billion is sweating a minor financial hit.

Acho argued that the real loser was Aiyuk for making it into the league and passing on potential generational wealth with the $120 million deal.

“I promise you somebody worth $8.4 billion is not mad about the $50 million that he gave you that he’s about to recoup back anyway after they void the deal,” Acho said. “I feel bad ‘cause BA is a loser here, and not that he’s a loser; he is losing in this situation. Like, bro, you beat the system, you made it to the league, and you was going to make a hundred some odd million dollars.”

What is the state of things between Brandon Aiyuk and the 49ers?

Brandon Aiyuk has completely burned the bridge between him and the 49ers with his latest rant. Prior to that, however, the 49ers’ general manager, John Lynch, publicly admitted in January that the wideout would not play for the team again.

Despite his overtures, the Commanders have not shown any sign of willingness to sign him, raising the question of where his next destination might be. However, Aiyuk’s claim of playing for a new team in 2027 may be an indication of ongoing contact or negotiation with an NFL team.
