Revanth gets a rap from Congress for ‘Hitler inspiration’ remark

NEW DELHI: Congress has ticked off Telangana CM Revanth Reddy for his “Hitler inspiration” remark, calling it out of line with the party ethos and ideology. It has also asked the CM to be careful with his comments in future. When asked about the Telangana CM’s remark, AICC general secretary (organisation) KC Venugopal told TOI : “It is not at all acceptable”.It is learnt that the party’s disapproval has been conveyed to Reddy, and he has been asked to be disciplined about his comments in the future.Congress censure came after the controversy triggered by Reddy’s statement that Hitler was the inspiration behind the constitution of the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) — the state’s antiencroachment task force. “HYDRAA was Adolf Hitler’s favourite word. His core team was named Hydra,” he said at an event.Political parties like CPM and BRS came down heavily on Reddy for citing Hitler as his inspiration — the Nazi leader being an infamous dictator who presided over the Holocaust.CPM seized upon Reddy’s remarks to target Congress by likening it to BJP. In a post on X, CPM general secretary MA Baby said, “…undoubtedly echoing the ideological fascinations of the Sangh Parivar”. CPML’s Dipankar Bhattacharya said on X, “Invocation of Hitler as an icon of governance by a Congress CM in a state like Telangana is no less worrying.”Revanth gets a rap from Cong for ‘Hitler inspiration’ remarkBaby’s attack came after Left and Congress clashed in a meeting of opposition parties Monday.
