Russia and Trinidad and Tobago are back in action on Tuesday when they square off in an international friendly at the RZD Arena. Both sides head into the game off the back of contrasting results, with Dwight Yorke’s men suffering a heavy defeat against South Korea.
Russia returned to winning ways in style at the weekend as they hammered 10-man Burkina Faso 3-0 when the two sides squared off at the Volgograd Arena.
Thanks for the submission!
Valeriy Karpin’s side had failed to win four of their previous five matches, claiming two draws and losing twice, including a narrow 1-0 defeat at the hands of Egypt a fortnight ago.
Having netted the second against Burkina Faso last weekend, Aleksey Miranchuk now has 11 goals under his belt in Russian colours, and the Atalanta United man, who has made 52 appearances since his debut in June 2015, will look to deliver the goods once again on Tuesday.
Elsewhere, Trinidad and Tobago were outclassed and outplayed by South Korea last time out as they fell to a 5-0 defeat when the two nations met on May 31.
With that result, Yorke’s men have lost four straight games in all competitions, including consecutive losses at the hands of Venezuela and Gabon in March’s FIFA Series.
Central to Trinidad’s woes has been their vulnerability at the defensive end of the pitch, where they have shipped 14 goals in their last four games, while netting just three in that time.
Russia vs Trinidad and Tobago Head-To-Head and Key Numbers
- This will be the very first meeting between Russia and Trinidad and Tobago, who will both be looking to begin their rivalry on a positive note.
- Trinidad have failed to win their last seven matches, losing four and claiming three draws since a 3-0 victory over Bermuda in October.
- Russia are unbeaten in 21 of their 23 friendly games, picking up 15 wins and six draws since September 2023.
- Trinidad have lost all but one of their last five friendly games, with a 1-1 draw against Jamaica in February 2025 being the exception.
Russia vs Trinidad and Tobago Prediction
Buoyed by their impressive display against Burkina Faso, Russia will be backing themselves against a floundering Trinidad side who are without a win since October.
Yorke’s side have lost each of their last four games since the turn of the year, and given their struggles at the back, we fancy Russia to come away with the desired result unscathed.
Prediction: Russia 3-0 Trinidad and Tobago
