At a joint press conference with West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, Vaishnaw said railway projects worth around ₹1 lakh crore would be implemented in the state in the coming years.
Following a meeting with Adhikari at the state secretariat, Nabanna, Vaishnaw expressed hope that railway projects in West Bengal would receive a fresh push under the double-engine government.
“For West Bengal, bullet trains have been promised, which will connect Delhi, Lucknow, Patna and Siliguri. The journey from Delhi to Siliguri can be completed in six hours. We will complete the work very fast,” Vaishnaw said.
“The bullet train has been promised by the Prime Minister. The high-speed corridor will connect Siliguri with New Delhi in six hours,” he added.
“102 Amrit Bharat Stations will be modernized and around 538 railway underpasses will be built. The previous Trinamool government did not even respond to the Railway Ministry’s letters and hold meetings…,” CM said.
