Sonam Wangchuk to join CJP protest seeking Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation on June 6

NEW DELHI: The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) on Tuesday announced that activist Sonam Wangchuk will join its protest on June 6. The protest, scheduled for Saturday, is part of the CJP’s campaign seeking the resignation of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan.“Prominent educationist and Ramon Magsaysay Awardee @Wangchuk66 will join the peaceful protest on 6 June demanding the resignation of the education minister,” the party wrote on X.Wangchuk also confirmed his participation sharing on X, “I will be joining the CJP members in Delhi on 6th June if nothing changes by 5th June. Any self respecting Minister should resign if things go so wrong… Not to mention the effect on millions of young lives and in fact the future of India.”Wangchuk had earlier signalled his support for the CJP, calling himself an ‘honorary cockroach.’“I have been asked from several quarters to speak on it. Some are saying I should also become a member,” he said. “I think I do not qualify — I am neither unemployed nor am I lazy. So sadly, I am not a member. But I consider myself an honorary cockroach,” Wangchuk had said in May.

CJP founder to return on June 6

A day earlier, Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke announced that he would return to Delhi on 6 June to launch a peaceful protest demanding the resignation of Pradhan over alleged examination-related failures. In a video shared on social media, Dipke urged students and supporters to join him at the airport before proceeding to Parliament Street Police Station to seek permission for a demonstration at Jantar Mantar. He cited controversies involving NEET, CBSE, CUET and SSCGD, arguing that millions of students had been affected by systemic shortcomings and that accountability was needed. Stressing that the campaign would remain non-violent, Dipke said it would follow constitutional and democratic principles despite concerns from his family about possible legal action upon his return.
