As the LA Dodgers held a 3-1 in Saturday’s game against the Philadelphia Phillies, reliever Tanner Scott was sent in two help take the team home. Unfortunately for the southpaw, the visitors scored three runs off him, turning the game on it’s head, and the Dodgers ended up losing 4-3.
After the game, Scott’s family was subjected to vile abuse on social media. Posting to her Instagram story later the same day, the pitcher’s wife, Maddie, exposed some of the hateful comments directed towards herself and her young son, Bo.
“When did it stop being a game? I don’t speak out often. Ever actually. I promise you, you don’t know what it’s like unless you’re living it. The unfortunate reality, in case you were curious,” Maddie Scott captioned her Instagram stories.

Soon after Tanner Scott’s wife, Maddie, revealed the horrible abuse she was being subjected to on social media, popular content page “Dugout Report” posted about the incident.
“Tanner Scott’s wife Maddie revealed heinous messages and comments she received after Scott was the losing pitcher in the Dodgers’ Saturday night loss to the Phillies,” the post was captioned.
Several fans left comments in support of Scott and his family.
“These aren’t Dodgers fans guys, these are bandwagons,” a fan wrote.
“Keyboard warriors need to stop. Real Dodger fans support our players,” another fan commented.
“Smdh leave them alone…. Fake a** Dodger Fans,” another fan shared.
“What the hell is wrong with people? It’s a freaking game,” another fan posted.
After enjoying a breakout 2024 season with the San Diego Padres, earning his first All-Star selection, Tanner Scott signed a three-year, $72 million contract to join the Dodgers over the offseason.
Expected to seamlessly slot in as the team’s closer, Scott’s first year in Dodger blue did not go to plan. He repeatedly struggled in big spots, ending the regular season with a 1-4 record and a 4.22 ERA. By the time the playoffs came around, it was young Roki Sasaki that was being used as a make-shift closer.
Scott has been much more consistent in 2026. So far, Scott has a 1-2 record and a 1.99 ERA with 29 strikeouts for the year.
