Former Team India captain Kris Srikkanth called Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) 100% favorites in the IPL 2026 final against Gujarat Titans (GT) in Ahmedabad on May 31. Srikkanth believes GT’s only hope of winning will be through restricting RCB’s batting to under 170.

The two teams split their league stage meetings, with each winning at home. However, RCB demolished GT in Qualifier 1 by 92 runs to advance to the final.

Making his predictions for the IPL 2026 final, Srikkanth said on his YouTube channel (11:50):

“RCB are 100% outright favorites. It’s 65-35 RCB for sure. However, I believe it’ll be a one-sided match either way. It won’t be a 100% close match. GT’s only chance of winning is by getting RCB all out between 160 and 170. Without doing that, they don’t have any chance. GT’s bowling has to do extraordinarily well for them to win.”

Both teams finished the league stage winning nine out of 14 matches, with RCB pipping GT for the top spot on net run-rate. However, GT’s lone win against RCB this season came in Ahmedabad, the venue for the final.

“Once he crosses that, he will demolish the GT spinners” – Kris Srikkanth on Rajat Patidar

Kris Srikkanth believes that dismissing RCB skipper Rajat Patidar early must be a top priority for GT in the IPL 2026 final. Patidar starred in the Qualifier 1 between the teams, scoring a breathtaking 93* off 33 deliveries.

“GT’s only chance against Patidar is to target him with the short delivery, and even that, early in his innings. Even this plan won’t work in the second half of the innings. It has to be within the first 20 balls of his innings. Once he crosses that, he will demolish the GT spinners,” said Srikkanth (via the aforementioned source).

    He added:

“If Rabada and Siraj don’t get early wickets and Rashid Khan has to bowl to Rajat Patidar, he will get smashed to all parts of the ground by Patidar. Prasidh Krishna might be the ideal option for Patidar, but he hasn’t been in great form this season and has been impressive only in patches.”

Patidar has enjoyed an excellent IPL 2026 season, holding RCB’s middle-order together, scoring 486 runs at an average of over 44 and a strike rate of 196.76 in 14 outings.
