WWE Clash in Italy, set to take place on Sunday, May 31, is the company’s first-ever premium live event on Italian soil. This PLE, with five matches booked, is going to be one of the most consequential shows of the year. The Inalpi Arena in Turin will host a card built around high-stakes matches.
Roman Reigns will be defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Jacob Fatu in Tribal Combat, Cody Rhodes will put his Undisputed WWE Championship on the line against Gunther, Jade Cargill will face Rhea Ripley for the WWE Women’s Championship, Becky Lynch will defend her WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship against Sol Ruca, and Brock Lesnar will face Oba Femi.
Thanks for the submission!
As anticipation continues to build, questions remain regarding the availability of several notable names. Injuries, recovery timelines, and scheduling uncertainties have become talking points in recent weeks, creating doubt about whether some of WWE’s biggest stars will be able to make the trip to Italy.
In this article, we will look at three names who are in danger of missing the Clash in Italy 2026 PLE.
#3. Sol Ruca
During Saturday Night’s Main Event, Sol Ruca was seen landing awkwardly while attempting her Sol Snatcher finishing move on Becky Lynch. The referee stopped the match, which ultimately ended in a disqualification victory for Ruca after The Man pulled the official into the path of the move.
According to reports, Ruca suffered a legitimate leg injury during that match, and it didn’t stop there. On the go-home episode of Monday Night RAW before Clash in Italy, backstage interviewer Cathy Kelley confirmed that Ruca had suffered injuries at Saturday Night’s Main Event, which only added to the growing concern around her status.
Becky Lynch then posted on social media claiming Ruca was not medically cleared to compete in Turin, though The Man was clearly working in character.
At this time, no specifics on the severity of the injury have been confirmed. Being present and being cleared to compete are two very different things. Two botched Sol Snatcher attempts in recent weeks, combined with this injury scare, paint a rough picture for the 26-year-old star at the moment. Until WWE provides a clearer update on her recovery, her participation remains very much in doubt.
#2. Jacob Fatu
The concern around Jacob Fatu began after he faced Solo Sikoa in a Street Fight at a WWE live event in Liverpool, where he was seen limping after the match. It was later confirmed that he was legitimately hurt rather than just selling the effects of the bout. The injury is believed to involve his back.
PWInsider confirmed Fatu was legitimately hurt, and WWE is now worried about whether he will be cleared in time for the Tribal Combat main event.
The company is reportedly considering alternative plans in case the match has to be pulled. That is the main event of a historic show being held in a country where WWE has never run a PLE before.
The stakes could not be higher. As of the latest update, WWE is working under the expectation that Fatu will be able to wrestle, but backup options are still being explored. Fatu himself declared publicly this week that he will walk out of Turin as World Heavyweight Champion. Whether his body allows that conversation to happen at all is now the real question.
#1. WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns
Roman Reigns’ situation is very different from the others on this list, but it is still creating uncertainty regarding Clash in Italy.
On the go-home episode of RAW before Clash in Italy, Roman Reigns was spotted wearing an elbow brace on his left arm. He also avoided any physical confrontation with Jacob Fatu during the segment, which further signaled that he is protecting the injury heading into the match.
Reigns addressed the situation directly on the Monday Night Show, acknowledging that he is not at full health heading into the Tribal Combat in Turin. He made it clear that he intends to compete regardless, which is consistent with how he has handled previous injury scares throughout his career.
While the exact nature of the injury was not specified, it is evident that the OTC is not at 100% heading into the biggest title defense of his current reign.
A World Heavyweight Champion stepping into a Tribal Combat match against one of the most physically dangerous opponents on the roster while nursing an elbow injury is a significant variable.
If the creative team plans call for him to return later in the year, WWE may choose to keep him off the card altogether. Until official announcements are made, his status remains uncertain.
