A major star could reportedly sign with WWE soon. He has made appearances in NXT several times.

Leon Slater is one of the most popular stars on the TNA roster. Despite his young age, Slater has been an impressive performer in the ring, similar to Je’Von Evans. Hence, Slater made many appearances on NXT and even teamed with Je’Von Evans a few times. Slater even challenged Oba Femi for the NXT Title. At TNA Wrestling, Slater reigned as the X-Division Champion for 298 days, tying the record for the longest-reigning X-Division Champion of all time. However, he lost the title on the 14th May episode of TNA Impact. Now it looks like he could be WWE-bound.

Speaking on the recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that a lot of people were mad about TNA not letting Slater become the longest-reigning X-Division Champion. However, the belief is that Slater will leave for World Wrestling Entertainment or AEW when his contract expires this year.

“A lot of people were mad about them not letting [Slater] break the record, but the belief is Slater is gone to WWE or AEW when his contract is up,” Meltzer wrote. [H/T F4Wonline]

AJ Styles commented on Leon Slater joining WWE

Leon Slater’s in-ring abilities have been phenomenal given his age. This has helped him get over with the fans. Slater has earned a lot of critical acclaim due to his personality and talent in the squared circle. Hence, the Stamford-based promotion has also shown a lot of interest in the former X-Division Champion. Therefore, with his TNA Wrestling contract expiring, there has been speculation that Slater could be headed to the sports entertainment juggernaut.

Speaking on his Phenomenally Retro podcast, AJ Styles said that it is only a matter of time before the high flyer joins the Stamford-based promotion.

“It’s only a matter of time, guys. It’s only a matter of time,” Styles said.

Leon Slater already has the makings to be one of the top high flyers in the WWE if booked properly. It will also be interesting to see him reunite with Je’Von Evans.
