WWE is seemingly considering bringing back a legendary former Intercontinental Champion to the main roster after ove half a decade at Clash in Italy 2026 this weekend.

Clash in Italy 2026 is going to be stacked, to say the least. Some of the big matches include Brock Lesnar vs Oba Femi 2, Cody Rhodes vs Gunther for the Undisputed WWE Championship, Rhea Ripley vs Jade Cargill for the WWE Women’s Championship, and Roman Reigns vs Jacob Fatu in a Tribal Combat match for the World Heavyweight Championship. The Tribal Combat match also stipulates that if Fatu loses, he will have to acknowledge and serve Roman Reigns. If you want spoilers about who the expected winners are for three of these matches at Clash in Italy 2026, you can click the link here.

According to a report on Fightful Select via WrestleVotes Radio, WWE is reportedly considering bringing Santino Marella for an appearance at Clash in Italy 2026. Now an authority figure in TNA, he made his iconic WWE debut in Milan, Italy, winning the Intercontinental Championship posing as a “fan”. He defeated the late great Umaga to do so, courtesy of help from Bobby Lashley. He last appeared on the WWE main roster in the 2020 Women’s Royal Rumble, meaning it will be over six years if he makes his return.

Santino Marella returned to WWE NXT last year for an interesting run

Although Santino Marella hasn’t been on the main roster for nearly five years (and ten years as a full-time member), he had a memorable stint in NXT last year. Since he is the authority figure in TNA, and there was a heavy collaboration between WWE and TNA (that seems to have slowed down a bit this year), it only made sense to have a crossover.

That’s why he began to semi-frequently appear on NXT television, and it culminated with him facing “All Ego” Ethan Page for the NXT North American Championship. Ethan Page is now a rising star on the main roster and recently had an excellent match against Penta at Saturday Night’s Main Event – a match that many thought would headline the show, but ultimately didn’t.

Either way, Marella was unsuccessful in dethroning Ethan Page, who went on to make his legacy as arguably one of the greatest North American Champions in the title’s 8-year lineage.

Marella’s presence also served to enhance that of his daughter, Arianna Grace, who went on to become a TNA Knockouts Champion for a little while.
