A top star recently spoke about her character in AEW. The wrestler said that they would never play a babyface in professional wrestling because it is something that does not align with their real-life personality.

The star in the talk is none other than AEW Women’s World Champion Thekla. The Toxic Spider has been working as a top heel in the Jacksonville-based promotion for the past year. She has shown off her villainous side by taking out names like Thunder Rosa and Jamie Hayter. Fans are enjoying her character arc as a heel, but there is still speculation of a babyface turn due to her rising popularity.

Speaking on the Sal Licata Show, Thekla said that she does not want to turn a babyface anytime soon in professional wrestling. She revealed that she likes not following the rules and acting like a good person. She wants to be a lethal force and dominate the division by hook or by crook. Therefore, The Toxic Spider believes that she would not be able to showcase her personality as a babyface.

“I was never going to be a babyface either, so ‘toxic’ is just like—you know—it tells you, ‘Be aware, danger.’ That’s me. I’m just an a**hole, man. I don’t like playing by rules. I don’t like bending down to authority. I’m just a little bit of a p*ick—and I’m having fun with that. And I think people like to watch me have fun being a prick. So there you have it,” said Thekla. Thekla talked about working with Tony Khan in AEW

Thekla has done an incredible job in All Elite Wrestling over the past year. Tony Khan has also praised her heavily in the past interviews. Recently, The Toxic Spider revealed how it feels working with Tony Khan and the AEW management.

In the same interview on the Sal Licata Show, Thekla said that the environment backstage is very peaceful, and people are nice to her. She praised Tony Khan’s energy as a booker, which makes her job pretty much wonderful.

“No, honestly, a no-brainer. Like, I love TK. I love working with him, and I love his energy backstage, and all the girls are nice. The locker room is quiet and peaceful, and I love my job. It’s cute, you know?” Thekla said. [H/T: Ringside News]

Nonetheless, Thekla has a massive challenge ahead of herself at Double or Nothing 2026. She will defend her AEW Women’s World Championship in a four-way match against Jamie Hayter, Hikaru Shida, and Kris Statlander. It will be interesting to see how she will face this threat to her title reign this Sunday.
