The move marks the next stage in the film’s run after its record-breaking theatrical journey and its OTT run. With the release of the new version on JioHotstar, the makers are aiming to cash in on its popularity ahead of the release of the sequel on OTT.

According to the announcement by JioHotstar, the streaming version has been designed to offer a more immersive experience for audiences revisiting the film as well as viewers watching it for the first time. The platform said the film would stream in a “raw and unfiltered form”, featuring additional moments not included in the theatrical release.
The release strategy also signals the growing importance of blockbuster titles in India’s streaming battle, particularly as platforms compete for large-scale audience engagement around theatrical hits. JioHotstar said the launch of Dhurandhar on the platform would make one of India’s biggest cinematic spectacles “more accessible than ever before”.
Presented by Reliance’s Jio Studios and backed by B62 Studios, Dhurandhar has been written, directed and produced by Aditya Dhar. The film has also been produced by Jyoti Deshpande and Lokesh Dhar. The story centres on what the makers describe as “the untold saga of the origins of the unknown men”.
The streaming release is also being positioned as a major advertising opportunity. JioHotstar said the arrival of Dhurandhar on the platform opens up a “first time advertising opportunity for brands”, with the film offering large-scale reach on streaming after redefining filmed entertainment in recent months.
On May 21, Netflix India also shared a new poster for Dhurandhar Raw & Undekha and confirmed that the uncensored version of the film would begin streaming on May 22. The streaming release will be available in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
The franchise expansion plans are also already in motion. The sequel, titled Dhurandhar The Revenge, will stream exclusively on JioHotstar in India. According to the platform, audiences will be able to tune in for a special digital premiere on June 4, while full access to the film will begin from June 5 onwards.
