Sturm Graz lock horns with Rapid Wien on the final day of the Austrian Bundesliga on Sunday. Both sides are in the Championship round, having finished in the top six during the regular season.

Fabio Ingolitsch’s Sturm are fresh off a 4-2 win at Harlberg last weekend. Albert Vallci’s first-minute opener for the visitors was cancelled out by Luca Pazourek seven minutes later. Benjamin Markus’ 13th-minute own goal put the visitors in front, and they consolidated their lead 11 minutes later through Otar Kiteishvili.

Lukas Fridrikas reduced arrears for Harlberg early in the second period, but Luca Weinhandl restored Sturm’s lead 11 minutes from time. Following a first win after five draws, the Blackies are second in the standings, with 34 points from 31 matches, winning 15.

Meanwhile, Johannes Thorup’s Rapid are coming off a 2-0 home reverse to Austria Wien last week. Despite managing six shots on target, the Green-Whites saw just 31% of the ball, conceding once in each half.

Following a second straight defeat (and third in four games), Thorup’s side are fifth in the points table, with 27 points from 31 outings, winning 12.

On that note, here’s a look at the head-to-head stats and key numbers, match prediction, and betting tips for the Sturm-Rapid Austrian Bundesliga clash at the Merkur Arena:

Sturm Graz vs Rapid Wien head-to-head stats and key numbers

    • In 93 meetings across competitions, Rapid lead Sturm 36-30, losing their most recent clash 2-0 at home in April.
    • Rapid have won three of their last four clashes with Sturm, losing one – all in the Austrian Bundesliga.
    • The Blackies are unbeaten in four home games – all in the Austrian Bundesliga – drawing the last four.
    • The Green-Whites have won once and lost as many times in their last five road outings – all in the Austrian Bundesliga.
    • Form guide (last five games across competitions, most recent result first): Sturm: W-D-D-D-D; Rapid: L-L-W-L-D

Sturm Graz vs Rapid Wien prediction

Both sides have had decent campaigns, qualifying for the Championship round of the league season. Having assured themselves of a top-two finish, Sturm are also in title contention.

The Blackies, though, trail their head-to-head with Rapid, who have also dominated recent meetings. However, Fabio Ingolitsch’s side have been unbeaten at home for some time, while Rapid have found wins hard to come by on the road.

Needing a win to keep alive their title hopes while hoping that leaders LASK Linz – who are two points ahead – expect Strum to complete their side of the bargain.

Prediction: Sturm Graz 2-0 Rapid Wien
