UK rental fleet makes it EZ to go EV with 100 electric JCB options

JCB E-TECH range puts premier on the path to carbon neutral

An equipment rental company in the UK is making it easier than ever for construction and groundskeeping crews to test out electric equipment options by adding more than 100 electric machines from JCB to its Leicestershire rental fleet.

As urban environments increasingly tighten the regulations and requirements for the type of machinery operated there, construction companies have begun to experiment with switching from loud diesel machines to cleaner and quieter electric alternatives – and one UK equipment rental company is helping them make that switch by expanding their fleet of over of available JCB e-machines to more than 100 units.

Premier Plant and Tool Hire in Leicestershire has added a number of JCB 19C-1E and 8008E CTS mini excavators to its rental fleet in recent month, along with the brand’s HTD-5E tracked dumpsters, scissor lifts, and other options that help to position them as a leader in sustainable construction solutions.

Premier’s investment specifically targets the rising demand for zero-emission equipment in urban UK neighborhoods, allowing the firm’s customers to secure jobes they simply wouldn’t be able to win without battery power.

    8008E mini excavator, by JCB.

We’ve covered the JCB 8008E electric micro digger before, and noted that the machine shares its chassis, hydraulic system, and controls with its diesel-powered siblings while delivering the same 9.3 kN bucket of tearout and 4.6 kN of dipper force capabilities, but without the noise. Premier Plant and Tool Hire praises that continuity of controls amid the evolving needs of the modern job site. and their of JCB e-machines backs this up.

What’s more, JCB’s decision to equip all their machines with batteries deliberately sized to deliver a full day’s work on a single charge make them ideal for both urban and indoor demolition work and suburban landscaping with an overnight charge at home base.

“We choose JCB because it is a trusted global brand that offers a wide range of construction equipment. JCB machines are powerful and reliable so they are ideal for contractors. Operators love the cabs, easy-to-use controls and hydraulics,” explains Rob Hughes, Managing Director of Premier Plant & Tool Hire. “As we continue our path towards carbon neutral, we value these JCB zero emission electric machines which help us to reduce our carbon footprint without affecting performance so they’re also a smart long-term investment.”

The small, accessible, and powerful compact equipment fleet Premier has on offer positions them as a leader in sustainable construction, and it’s just a stepping stone for more.
