Ten more cases of shigellosis were reported in the State on Monday.
Seven cases were reported from Thiruvangoor, Vanimel, Omassery, Puthupadi, Cheroopa and Karassery in Kozhikode, while a case each was reported from Pizhala in Ernakulam, Thrikkalangode in Malappuram, and Vellamunda in Wayanad.
During June alone, 150 shigellosis cases and six deaths have been reported in the State. A total of 226 infections have been confirmed so far this year.
Kozhikode, Malappuram, and Wayanad reported the highest number of cases in June. While some districts are reporting scattered cases, ongoing outbreaks have been declared in Kozhikode (49 cases), Wayanad (20), Thrissur (12), and Alappuzha (3).
The infection has been reported from Malappuram (21), Thiruvananthapuram (17), Kannur (10), Kollam (9), Idukki (3), Ernakulam (3), and Palakkad (3).
The Health department also reported 56 confirmed and 172 probable cases of dengue fever on Monday. One dengue death was reported from Kudappanakunnu in Thiruvananthapuram. Seven confirmed cases of leptospirosis and three probable deaths were reported from Vaniyamkulam in Palakkad and two from Kummil and Veliyam in Kollam districts.
Two cases of Influenza A H1N1 deaths were reported in the State, this time in young individuals aged 38 and 34 from Parassala in Thiruvavananthapuram and Kumarampouthur in Palakkad.
Amoebic meningoencephalitis also claimed one life, that of a 66-year-old in Kulathupzha in Kollam.
