‘Nothing short of magical’: Astrophotographer captures Lyrid meteors beside the Milky Way
Lyrid meteors blaze alongside the glow of the Milky Way. (Image credit: Josh Dury)Astrophotographer Josh Dury captured a stunning view of the Milky Way arcing through the night sky above Scotland’s Isle of Skye, as shooting stars carved fiery paths through Earth’s atmosphere.”With my star tracker engaged, I sat on a small boulder with river water running between my feet — thank god I brought wellies!”, Dury recalled in an email to Space.com. “The most magical moment of all, as with any experience with the stars, is when you know all is safe; the camera is running and then -…
Lexus Just Solved One Of Its Biggest EV Headaches
The 2026 Lexus ES will get Toyota’s Arene software platform. It brings a comprehensive native route planning feature and a new infotainment system. The ES is now a fully electrified nameplate, with hybrid and electric versions on offer. Road tripping in the 2026 Lexus ES will be a breeze, thanks to a new feature that has long been overdue on electric vehicles under the Toyota umbrella. Lexus announced Monday that the ES will get Toyota’s new Arene software platform, and with it comes native EV route planning, a first for a Lexus EV. It’s a feature that Teslas and Rivians…
The new BMW iX3 costs nearly $1,000 a month to lease
Starting at $61,500, the 2027 BMW iX3 is cheaper than the Porsche Macan Electric and offers more range with up to 434 miles. How much does it cost to lease the 2027 BMW iX3? BMW undercut most of the competition after opening preorders for the new 2027 iX3 50 xDrive last week, starting at $61,500. At that, the iX3 is more affordable than most of the competition, including the 2026 Genesis Electrified GV70 ($64,380), the Porsche Macan Electric ($80,300), the Audi Q6 e-tron ($63,800), the Rivian R1S ($76,990), and the Mercedes EQS ($89,950). It’s even less expensive than the gas-powered…
When generative AI systems give incorrect answers, people often describe the problem as AI “hallucinating at us,” meaning the technology produces false information that users may mistakenly believe. But new research suggests there may be a more concerning issue emerging: humans can begin to “hallucinate with AI.” Lucy Osler of the University of Exeter examined how interactions with conversational AI could contribute to false beliefs, distorted memories, altered personal narratives, and even delusional thinking. Using ideas from distributed cognition theory, the study explored cases in which AI systems reinforced and expanded users’ inaccurate beliefs during ongoing conversations. Dr. Osler said:…

TikTok launches an ad-free subscription plan in the UK
TikTok is introducing an ad-free subscription plan in the U.K. that costs £3.99 (about $5.44) per month. The new offering is rolling out over the coming months and will be available to users 18 and over. Users who sign up for the plan won’t see ads on TikTok, and their data won’t be used for advertising purposes. The launch was likely driven by the U.K.’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which prohibits companies from collecting users’ personal data for advertising purposes without their consent. “Choice for our community and growth for UK businesses go hand in hand on TikTok,” said…
What LG and NVIDIA’s talks reveal about the future of physical AI
LG is currently engaged in exploratory discussions with NVIDIA concerning physical AI, data centres, and mobility.Following a meeting in Seoul between LG CEO Ryu Jae-cheol and Madison Huang, Senior Director of Product Marketing for Omniverse and Robotics at NVIDIA, the core operational dependencies required to run complex automated systems are becoming apparent. While the companies have not formalised investment amounts or timelines, their intersecting hardware and processing priorities highlight the massive capital expenditure required to bring autonomous systems out of simulation. The densification of compute clusters required for complex machine learning models creates an unavoidable physics problem. NVIDIA’s data centre business generates…
This new chip survives 1300°F (700°C) and could change AI forever
Modern electronics power everything from smartphones to satellites, but they all share a major limitation. Heat. Once temperatures climb above roughly 200 degrees Celsius, most devices begin to break down. For decades, this thermal barrier has been one of the toughest challenges in engineering. Researchers at the University of Southern California now believe they have found a way past that limit. In a study published on March 26, 2026 in Science, a team led by Joshua Yang, Arthur B. Freeman Chair Professor at the Ming Hsieh Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the USC Viterbi School of Engineering and…
