    NFL fans react as Puka Nacua exits Rams practice with injury

    The Los Angeles Rams are looking to win a second Super Bowl title since returning from St. Louis in 2016. However, one of their most important players may have hit a roadblock towards getting to contribute.

    On Tuesday, wide receiver Puka Nacua was reported to have left the NFC runners-up’s joint practice with the Dallas Cowboys early with an injury. Head coach Sean McVay himself gave no update as to exactly what it was.

    The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport later revealed the injury to be mild groin soreness, but that did not stop fans from making derisive presumptions beforehand:

    Meanwhile, quarterback Matthew Stafford did provide some insight regarding the severity of the injury:

    “I did not (see him leave). I’m not really sure what the issue was, but nobody ran up to me in a panic, so I don’t think it was anything too major.”

    I asked Matthew Stafford if he saw what happened to Puka Nacua during joint practice with the Cowboys. Stafford: “I did not. I’m not really sure what the issue was, but nobody ran up to me in a panic, so I don’t think it was anything too major.”

    Even should Nacua fully heal, however, it is still not a given that he will be allowed to play once the season starts. He is rumored to be among a host of players facing a Week 1 suspension in relation to off-field incidents, his case including an alleged assault of a woman in March.

    Speaking on his eponymous podcast on Tuesday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter said:

    “We’ll leave that to the NFL to figure out what did and didn’t happen. But it’s possible that when the Niners and Rams play in Australia, it’s within the realm of options that Puka doesn’t play in that game.”

    Rams edge rusher Myles Garrett also out of practice with swollen knee

    In June, the Rams acquired dominant sack machine and reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett in a trade with the Cleveland Browns. However, he has had a rather poor attendance record in August’s practices so far, missing three straight days before showing up for the next two.

    On Tuesday, he was absent again, as his knee swelled. Sean McVay said about it:

    “We just erred on the side of caution. He wanted to be able to be out there, but we want to make sure that when he returns to play, he’s able to return to full performance and feel like himself.”

    The Rams’ preseason begins at the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. PT.
