Gurgaon-based Gentari Green Mobility India’s sale process has just begun and potential bidders have yet to be contacted, they said.

The attempted sale of the unit, which houses electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, is taking place against the backdrop of increasing adoption of electric vehicles driven by government schemes promoting the use of such vehicles for public transport.
Gentari Green Mobility India has 3,000 electric vehicle charging points and manages them independently as well as through a tie-up with Shell Plc. It has charging points in 11 states in northern, western, central and southern India. These charging points are located within cities as well as at highway locations such as restaurants and hotels.
“It’s too early to put a value to the business. It will depend on the usage of these charging points,” said a senior executive at an investment firm, who did not wish to be identified.
In a similar investment in the EV charging segment, Macquarie purchased a significant minority stake in Chargezone in 2023. That deal is said to have valued Chargezone, which operated about 3,500 charging points at the time, at about ₹1,500 crore.
Malaysia-headquartered Gentari had sought a partner to divest up to 50% stake in its Indian renewable energy generation unit last year, ET had reported in June 2025. That deal is yet to materialise.ET’s queries to Gentari did not elicit a response till press time.
Gentari Green Mobility India has an authorised share capital of ₹24.25 crore as per public records. Information about the company’s sales could not be ascertained.
The company is looking to expand charging infrastructure through tie-ups with EV manufacturers. It also provides EV subscriptions through vehicle-as-a-service offerings that are marketed through its Gentari Go app.
JSW Green Mobility recently invested an undisclosed sum in Eversource Capital-backed Lithium Urban Technologies, which is also in the EV charging infrastructure business.
Gentari acquired a portfolio of 1.6 gigawatt of renewable energy generation assets from Brookfield for an enterprise value of $900 million last year. However, it soon sought a partner to sell a stake in that business.
Gentari’s parent company, Malaysia’s state-owned oil and gas company Petronas, has annual revenue of about $65 billion. The Kuala Lumpur-headquartered firm has interests in multiple markets apart from Southeast Asia, with investments spanning Africa, North America, Australia and West Asia.
