Portugal superstar Cristiano Ronaldo’s older sister, Elma Aveiro, has blasted the media after thousands of fans gathered outside the Funchal Cathedral, assuming it was his and Georgina Rodriguez’s wedding. Aveiro accused the media of spreading fake rumors, questioning fans about why they believed Ronaldo was getting married without any official confirmation.
As per multiple news outlets worldwide, including The Sun, Cristiano Ronaldo was expected to marry his fiancée Georgina Rodriguez in Funchal, Madeira, on Saturday, August 8. The couple had allegedly reserved the Funchal Cathedral to exchange vows and were expected to host the celebrations at the five-star Savoy Palace resort nearby.

Amid these rumors, over 2000 Ronaldo fans gathered around the Funchal Cathedral yesterday to catch a glimpse of the couple. However, they accidentally ended up gatecrashing the wedding of Fabio Ramos and Fatima Nicole Cunha Teixeira instead.
Elma Aveiro then took to Instagram to blast the media for publishing false rumors, stating (h/t The Nassr Tribune):
“Why do people think Ronaldo is getting married when he’s never even announced it himself? In short, don’t they realise the media doesn’t know anything at all? Do they really want to know?! They’re making up stories.”
Additionally, Ronaldo saw the funny side of the situation. While he did not marry Georgina Rodriguez on Saturday, he reacted to the footage of fans gathered around the cathedral on Instagram:
“The bride has been very upset” – Wedding guest makes honest admission after over 2000 fans crash local wedding to catch a glimpse of Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez
An anonymous guest has revealed that Fatima Nicole Cunha Teixeira was ‘very upset’ after over 2000 fans gathered around the Funchal Cathedral during her wedding with Fabio Ramos. Thousands of fans turned up at the venue to catch a glimpse of Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez amid rumors of their reported wedding on Saturday.
Guests were recorded shouting, ‘This is not Georgina’ as Teixeira made her way into the cathedral. One guest also stated (via The Sun):
“This is crazy. Why does everyone think that Fabio is Cristiano Ronaldo? The bride has been very upset, worrying that all the commotion will ruin her wedding day.”
The priest of the cathedral, Father Marcos Goncalves, added:
“This is the only wedding taking place here today. I do not have a booking for Cristiano Ronaldo.”
Goncalves also revealed that the Al-Nassr ace had not booked the Funchal Cathedral for a wedding in the near future, shutting down the rumors spread over the past week.
