“Since I got cast as Spider-Man, I haven’t really taken a break,” said leading star of the Spider-Man world, Tom Holland, in his 2021 interview with GQ. It’s hard to see how anything’s changed. The aforementioned interview came ahead of Spider-Man: No Way Home—at the time, the last of the franchise in Holland’s contract—but he’s since taken on various roles across movie, theatre and television; not forgetting the role of Telemachus in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. Now, the spidey superhero is back in action once again as Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits the big screen. However, while audiences see the superhero shooting his web through the iconic New York City skyline, all is not as it seems. Here, we take a look at the real-life locations behind the biggest blockbuster of the year.
Where was Spider-Man: Brand New Day filmed?
Glasgow, Scotland
Film buffs with a keen eye and several perplexed passers-by caught much of Spider-Man: Brand New Day’sfilming taking place across Glasgow. Tom Holland, alongside other cast and crew members, was spotted filming in the city in summer 2025, with the city standing in for New York City thanks to a combination of set dressing and clever soundstage work.
Following the release of the official trailer in March 2026, the Facebook account Stepping Through Film matched stills from the show against key Glaswegian backdrops, demonstrating how the city makes a perfect double for Manhattan with some cinematic trickery.
