A former WWE champion has sent a bold message after a fan pitched the idea of her fighting AEW star Skye Blue.
The star in the limelight is none other than Kay Lee Ray, who wrestled under the ring name Alba Fyre in WWE. Earlier this year, Ray departed the Stamford-based promotion. It was previously reported that her departure was tied to the company’s numerous post-WrestleMania 42 talent releases. However, the former NXT UK Women’s Champion and WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion later clarified that her contract had expired and that she didn’t renew it.
Following her departure, Ray wasted little time returning to Pro-Wrestling EVE, a promotion where she is a legend and a former EVE champion. Interestingly, AEW star Skye Blue has also recently performed for the indie company. The duo seems to have caught a fan’s eye. He took to X to express his desire to see them in an anything-goes street fight and even asked Will Ospreay, who is part of EVE’s creative and backstage production team, to make it happen. Ray, meanwhile, caught wind of the post and responded with a bold message.
Someone might d*e 💀,” wrote Lee.
Her reply on X can be seen here.
Ex- WWE star Kay Lee Ray (fka Alba Fyre) on her dream AEW opponents
Kay Lee Ray may have returned to the UK indie circuit following her WWE exit. But the Scottish grappler has not been shy about hinting at her interest in joining AEW and facing some of their best. In a recent appearance on Busted Open Radio, the former Secret Service member disclosed her dream opponents from the Jacksonville-based promotion, naming Mercedes Mone, Kris Statlander, Riho, and Willow Nightingale.
“..but some of them off the top of my head, Willow, Stat, Riho and Mercedes,” Kay Lee said.
Kay Lee Ray is widely considered a top-tier professional wrestler, but many would agree that her presentation in World Wrestling Entertainment relegated her to a comedic act and limited her ring time. Time will tell whether Tony Khan will eventually bring her to All Elite Wrestling.
