A major WWE icon who hasn’t wrestled a single match in the Stamford-based company in nearly 3 years could be making her return soon. She recently responded to a pitch regarding her return that a fan had made on X. The star in question is none other than the inaugural Ms. Money in the Bank and former SmackDown Women’s Champion Carmella.
Carmella signed with the Stamford-based company back in 2013 and started appearing on the NXT brand. During her initial days in the company, she aligned with Enzo Amore and Big Cass and used to manage the duo on the developmental brand. She joined the main roster back in 2016 and became an integral part of SmackDown Live!
Thanks for the submission!
The Fabulous star reached the peak of her WWE career back in 2017 when she became the first woman to win the Money in the Bank Briefcase. She even cashed it-in after WrestleMania 34 to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship. She wasn’t featured heavily in the main event scene during her last few years with WWE and actually went on a hiatus due to real-life pregnancy back in 2023. Her contract with the company expired last year and she is currently a free agent.
A fan on X pitched the Fabulous star’s return by sharing edited pictures of her holding the new WWE Championship designs for the Women’s division. This garnered a response from Carmella herself who teased her return with a cryptic emoji.
“🤭,” she wrote.
It will be interesting to see if this actually means something or if Carmella is just teasing her fans once again.
Former WWE star Carmella underwent surgery earlier this year
Carmella got a surgery done to treat her under eyes earlier this year. The surgery she underwent is called blepharoplasty and treats the upper and lower eyelids of the patient. She updated her fans following the surgery on Instagram after sharing a disclaimer that read:
“Okay, I’m about to post an update on the next slide. If you don’t like gross things, please keep moving. I just wanted to give a little update for those that are waiting. I don’t even know what I look like. I can’t really see. I can just see bruises. But I just wanted to update you guys. And I will hopefully tomorrow feel a bit better to… like properly update you but I wanted to share the progress and it looks way worse than it feels”
The surgery was successful and Carmella is in better condition now. Fans are hoping to see her back in a WWE ring again soon.
