    Geely 700 tri-motor stuffs 1,113 hp in a high-luxe, boxy package

Geely Galaxy debuts Cruiser 700 off-road SUV with 1,113-hp tri-motor system

The eagerly anticipated Geely Galaxy 700 was expected to be the Chinese brand’s answer to the Range Rover and Land Cruiser – but, with a tire-shredding 1,113 hp on tap, it may be a bigger, boxier answer to Italian exotic cars, instead!

Alternatively called the Geely Galaxy Zhanjian 700, Galaxy Cruiser 700, or (my favorite) the Galaxy Battleship 700 in different global markets, the production version of the new big Geely made its first appearance in Milan, Italy last week, sporting a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain that pairs a range-extending ICE with top-shelf models offering three beefy electric motors good for a combined, headline-grabbing 830 kW (~1,113 hp) and a massive 1,692 Nm (~1,250 lb-ft) of torque.

Geely didn’t release any official performance figures for the big SUV, but from what they did release we can calculate a power-to-weight ratio of 392 hp/tonne (or ~5.6 lbs./hp), which should translate to straight line performance somewhere between a Ferrari 458 Italia and a McLaren 570S – and (trust me on this) both of those cars can move.

    Cool in the corners, too

As impressive as that headline horsepower figure is, Geely swears its new Galaxy Battleship offers driving dynamics and handling that defy its name, with claims that the new SUV can pass Europe’s famous mosse test at 50 mph (80 km/h) thanks to Geely’s proprietary GVMC (Geely Vehicle Motion Control) semi-active suspension system. That system works with the Galaxy 700’s fluid-coupled dual-motor rear axle layout and an AI-powered traction control system that automatically switches between front-, rear-, and all-wheel drive to handle whatever troublesome or terrifying terrain you decide to throw it at.

Geely claims the system enables automatic obstacle avoidance, 360-degree tank turns, a crab walk mode, and can even keep driving after a tire blowout by effectively keeping the SUV “balanced” on three wheels.

    Cushy and custom

The Geely Galaxy Cruiser 700 features a luxuriously appointed interior offering plenty of seating configurations and a wide range of screens and buttons to control the 700’s drive, climate, and infotainment options – but if it seems like there are a lot more buttons than that, you’re right: Geely expects Galaxy 700 owners to customize their vehicles, with fully fifty different installation points for accessories and add-ons baked in.

All versions of the new Galaxy Battleship 700 ship with a 41.7 kWh LFP battery pack developed by CATL and good for between 165 and 185 km (~100-115 miles) of range.

CNEVPost reports that Geely Galaxy brand sales are up ~20% year-on-year and 32% from May, ending 5 consecutive months of year-on-year declines for the brand. For those of you doing the math, that works out to 519,793 vehicles sold in the first half of the 2026 alone, down just about 5% year-over-year.
