    DJ Moore sends clear message after being expected to be “the guy that’s going to help Josh Allen not do everything on his own”

    DJ Moore is confident with the assignment that came with his move to Buffalo. The Bills traded for the veteran wide receiver this offseason, hoping he’d solve the issues since Stefon Diggs left after the 2023 season: a true No. 1 target who can take some of the offensive burden off Josh Allen.

    Khalil Shakir has developed into an explosive slot weapon, and Keon Coleman remains a work in progress, but neither has filled that specific role.

    Kay Adams, on her show “Up and Adams,” addressed this by asking:

    “You’re here. Do you feel like how would you describe maybe like the expectations about you in your role in coming in here, getting the best, you know, doing things by example for a Skyler Bell, but also being that guy that’s going to help Josh Allen not have to do everything on his own.”

    Moore replied:

    “I feel like I have to come in, firstly, by example, and then go be the player that everybody knows I am and do it for the Bills.”

    Camp opened Wednesday at St. John Fisher University, and after Josh Allen missed DJ Moore on a couple of early throws, the two started clicking by the second day.

    “I want to say they’re on the ups. The first two days have been really good, so we just got to keep building on that and go from there,” Moore said of the early work.

    Allen said the pair are “gonna try to continue to get more comfortable with each other” as camp rolls on.

    DJ Moore and Josh Allen were both part of the 2018 NFL draft class. The connection started building when Buffalo’s OTAs opened in early April. By June minicamp, Allen called Moore “as smooth of a football player as I’ve ever been around.”

    Moore also arrives with trust in new coach Joe Brady, who called plays for him in Carolina and watched him top 1,150 receiving yards in back-to-back seasons. Brady’s hire is part of a broader offseason overhaul in Buffalo that included moving on from Sean McDermott and adding pass rusher Bradley Chubb, as the Bills try to build more depth around Allen.
