This could be the case for Stephen Curry, too, amid a viral claim alleging that Celtics operations head Brad Stevens called for a blockbuster trade involving the Warriors star.
NBA Central was among those who shared the report on X (formerly Twitter), while citing Celtics beat writer John Karalis.

The report quickly gained traction online, with fans debating the possibility of Curry being traded to Boston. However, Karalis soon shut down the rumor.
Just hours after the claim went viral, the Celtics beat writer clarified that he had been misquoted, explaining that several outlets had mistaken his opinion for a factual report.
“I did not report that the Celtics made an offer to the Warriors,” Karalis wrote via X (formerly Twitter). “I wrote a column that said IF the Warriors were open to a Steph trade that Brad WOULD call. I thought it was pretty clear that the whole piece was my opinion.”
According to the writer, outlets jumped at the chance to create a rumor, taking his July think piece published on Sports Illustrated’s website and formulating it into a report.
“I’m not entirely confident in Curry being traded this season,” Karalis wrote in his article. “It would be a bit of a shocking development if he did. There’s no doubt Brad Stevens has already been on the phone with the Warriors brass to pitch a deal if they want one.”
The writer never insinuated Stevens called the Warriors on the phone in his article, and the viral claim has no substance, at least at this moment in time.
NBA insider squashes Steph Curry trade rumors with a clear message
Rumors revolving around Stephen Curry’s future in the Bay Area have begun to emerge in recent days. Many have linked the guard with a move away from the Warriors this season, as the team is yet to make major moves this offseason.
However, those rumors were put to bed by NBA insider Brett Siegel on Saturday.
“Seems like we’ll be saying this a lot this offseason: Stephen Curry won’t be traded by the Warriors and he isn’t prepared to ask for a trade,” Siegel wrote via X (formerly Twitter).
Despite the Warriors’ lack of major offseason additions, Curry appears committed to staying in Golden State as he prepares to lead the franchise into another season.
