Houston Rockets forward Tari Eason‘s request for a temporary restraining order against his ex-girlfriend was granted on Thursday.

According to TMZ Sports, fashion influencer/model Marilyn Maritza Melo Rodriguez is now barred from going near Eason, his home, vehicle or the NBA facilities where the 6-foot-8 forward plays or trains.

Eason reportedly filed a petition in Los Angeles County on Wednesday for a domestic violence restraining order. He alleged that Rodriguez, whom he “used to date,” struck him multiple times in the face and threatened to kill him.

“Tari claims one of Marilyn’s friends called him to ‘tell me that she would break both of my legs and kill me’ … alleged threats he said made him fear for his life,” TMZ wrote Thursday.

TMZ Sports added that a hearing was set on Aug. 20 to determine whether the TRO should be extended long-term.

Tari Eason will enter his fifth NBA season in 2026-27. On July 9, he signed a five-year, $81.5 million contract extension that includes a $18.6 million player option for the 2030-31 season.

In addition to death threats and physical violence, Houston Rockets forward Tari Eason alleged that his former girlfriend destroyed some of his clothes with bleach.

According to TMZ Sports, Eason said Marilyn Maritza Melo Rodriguez returned to the rented Airbnb to take his “clothes and poured liquid bleach on them, ruining them.” The Rockets forward claimed that the damaged designer clothes amounted to $92,000.

Houston selected Eason with the No. 17 pick of the 2022 NBA draft. He has carved out a key bench role for Rockets coach Ime Udoka. In 60 games last season, he averaged 10.5 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 25.8 minutes per game.

Houston’s training camp is expected to commence in mid-September, followed by a trip to Macau for the NBA China Games 2026. The Rockets will have two preseason games against the Dallas Mavericks on Oct. 9 and 11 at The Venetian Arena.
