Fans reacted to the performances of centre-back Tosin and striker Liam Delap as Chelsea kicked off their pre-season with a 6-4 friendly win over Western Sydney Wanderers at the Accor Stadium in Sydney on Tuesday (July 28).

The goal fest started in the sixth minute when Kazakh teenager Dastan Satpayev got the ball rolling on the counter to put Xabi Alonso’s side in front. However, it took just eight minutes for the hosts to restore level terms, through defender Anthony Pantazopoulos.

Sydney took the lead in the 32nd minute courtesy winger Aydan Hammond before midfielder Dario Essugo restored parity, once again on the counter, to head into half-time at 2-2.

The hosts took the lead twice after the break – through midfielder Dylan Scicluna and striker Awan Lual – only for the Blues to peg them back each time. Alonso‘s side scored the game’s last three goals, with Joao Pedro bagging a hat-trick, to take a hard-fought victory, leaving fans far from impressed:

“Bruh I know it’s only our first game back, but I don’t want to see Tosin and Delap play for club again. I am tired 😭😭,” one tweeted.

‘Tosin and Delap have been rubbish. Delap is hiding, Tosin can’t defend to save his life and missed 2 free headers. Acheampong needs a loan because he’s been poor too. But nobody ever looks good playing next to Tosin,” another commented.

“Tosin and Delap should leave my club,” one posted.

“Lol, I don’t want to see Tosin and Delap here once the season begins,” another tweeted.

“Tosin and Delap need to do us a favour and leave,” one posted.

“Tosin and Delap consistently underperform, even when competing against 16-year-olds lol,” another tweeted.

The Blues are in action again four days later at the same stadium when they take on Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Chelsea commenced their pre-season Down Under with a game against Western Sydney Wanderers on Tueday, where they thrice came from behind to win 6-4, with Joao Pedro starring with a second-half hat-trick.

Xabi Alonso’s side continue their pre-season tour of Australia when they take on domestic rivals Tottenham Hotspur at the Accor Stadium on August 1. They then travel to Hong Kong to take on Juventus four days later.

Chelsea then visit Jakarta, where they play AC Milan on August 8, before ending their Asian tour a day later against Johor Darul Ta’zim. On August 15, they entertain Real Sociedad at Stamford Bridge to close their pre-season.
