    Jorge Masvidal shares how Magomed Zaynukov can become UFC champion

    Magomed Zaynukov seems to have made a lot of new fans after his proper UFC debut at Abu Dhabi.

    The Russian, who trains with Islam Makhachev and Khabib Nurmagomedov, faced the undefeated Damian Rzepecki on the main card.

    While ‘Chanko’ was also undefeated coming into the fight, he put on a striking clinic. The 31-year-old used a lot of kicks, punches and short elbows to piece up his rival, and pick up an impressive win.

    Din Thomas was on the Deep Waters podcast and claimed that Zaynukov was the most impressive fighter and performance at Abu Dhabi.

    The panel all praised ‘Chanko’ for his performance, while Jorge Masvidal believed that the Russian could become a UFC champion if he could wrestle well:

    “If ‘Chanko’ can wrestle defensively as well, this guy is probably going to become a champion.”

    Dustin Poirier added that he probably could wrestle given he came from the Makhachev and Nurmagomedov camp, while Chris Weidman pointed out that the Russian was held on the cage a couple of times during the fight.

    Magomed Zaynukov calls out Ilia Topuria

    While Magomed Zaynukov got a debut win on the main UFC roster after his exploits on Dana White’s Contender Series, the Russian has his eyes set on a big target.

    Zaynukov, while speaking to Daniel Cormier after his win at Abu Dhabi, highlighted that his rival had trained in the same camp as Ilia Topuria, and called the former lightweight champion out:

    “Hey, Ilia Topuria. I just wanted to make sure I come out here and do my work because [my opponent] was saying a lot of things before the fight. He was saying he was from the team of Ilia Topuria. Well, guess what? I am from the team of Nurmagomedov. I come from the school of Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov. We do not care who we fight. We’ll take everyone on.”

    Topuria was undefeated in his career before suffering a terrible loss to Justin Gaethje at UFC Freedom 250.

    ‘Chanko’ is now 9-0 in his MMA career, but it is unlikely he faces a fighter like Topuria next.
