Frances Tiafoe, who claimed to be a matchmaker in Ben Shelton and Trinity Rodman’s relationship, has made another explosive claim about the couple. The four-time ATP titleist believes Washington Spirit forward Trinity Rodman is “so much more” famous than her boyfriend Ben Shelton.
The World No. 17 American, a native of Washington D.C., is currently in his hometown, bolstering his preparations ahead of his Mubadala DC Open singles campaign opener against Terence Atmane on Tuesday.
Thanks for the submission!
Shelton, ranked sixth in the World, is also competing for the title in the US capital. He recently made the headlines after he turned up at the Audi Field for Rodman’s NWSL fixture against Denver Summit FC.
Even Tiafoe declared his intention to watch DC’s “finest” Rodman in action. The 28-year-old then confessed that it is “crazy” that nobody knows Shelton in comparison to the Spirit forward.
“No one knows Ben in comparison to Trinity Rodman. We might go watch DC’s finest, Trinity Rodman. She’s so much more famous than Ben. It’s crazy. Crazy,” Frances Tiafoe said in a video posted by ATP on Instagram.
Last year, Shelton and Rodman hard launched their relationship after flirting on social media. After their love went public, Tiafoe then disclosed that he had a role in introducing his fellow pro American to the NWSL star.
Frances Tiafoe teams up with Nick Kyrgios for Mubadala DC Open doubles event
Frances Tiafoe won’t be limited to just singles action in Washington this year. He has joined hands with Nick Kyrgios, who could be in the final stretch of his career. The 31-year-old Australian has just made three tournament appearances in the singles event this year before arriving at Wimbledon.
On London’s lush green surface, he teamed up with Alexander Bublik and crashed out in the first round of the tournament. Following his exit, he dropped a massive hint that the end of his professional career could be near. This isn’t the first time Nick Kyrgios and Frances Tiafoe have teamed up for the doubles action in Washington. In 2021, they joined forces and outlasted Rohan Bopanna and Ivan Dodig in the opening round.
However, their promising run ended with a quarterfinal defeat against Sebastian Korda and Jannik Sinner. While Kyrgios has already teased that he is unaware of what would be next for him after the Mubadala DC Open, it would be interesting to see how far he can go with Tiafoe in the tournament.
