    Top AEW star details his relationship with Tony Khan

    Tony Khan has been doing an incredible job with the current AEW product. He is set to host the Redemption pay-per-view this weekend from the Bell Centre in Canada. Ahead of the big event, a top AEW star talked about his relationship with the AEW President.

    The star is none other than Kyle Fletcher. The Protostar has been one of the main players of All Elite Wrestling for the past year. Under Tony Khan’s leadership, Fletcher has become a two-time TNT Champion and an International Champion in the company. Besides, AEW regularly features the 27-year-old in main event storylines on Dynamite and other events.

    Ahead of the Redemption pay-per-view, The Protostar was involved in an interview with The Knockturnal. During the conversation, Kyle Fletcher revealed that he has a good relationship with Tony Khan. He detailed that they often talk about their personal life and the recent happenings around them. Fletcher added that on the show, they talk about the segments, the camera angles, the tone of the promo, and other related stuff, indicating that they share a friendly bond.

    “Yeah, it really depends. Tony’s really cool, and I think at the level that we’re at now, we have a very good friendship relationship outside of just wrestling itself. So our conversations could be anything from just talking about what our weekends were like to… you know, nitty gritty of like, ‘okay, what do you want from me today? What do you want from this segment of this match? So, you know, it can get as detailed as that, or it can be as laid back as, you know, well, this funny thing happened the other day. Oh, look at this funny video of my cat. You know, we have a pretty good relationship at this point, which is nice,” said Fletcher.

    Tony Khan has plans about doing a Crockett-style tournament in AEW

    Over the years, AEW has done several major tournaments in its programming. Competitions like the “Owen Hart Cup” and “Continental Classics” have become some of the most important aspects of the company. Recently, Tony Khan talked about adding another tournament to their arsenal.

    During the AEW Redemption media call, Khan said that they have thought about doing a Crockett Cup-style tournament in AEW. He added that the idea is to invite top-tier tag teams from all over the world for this competition. He added that AEW’s partner promotions like CMLL and NJPW can help the company build such a tournament.

    Crockett Cup is a tag team wrestling tournament that was created in 1986 in the NWA. It will be interesting to see if Tony Khan would bring back the coveted tournament to the AEW programming in the coming months.
