Irish low-cost airline Ryanair took a dig at Norway striker Erling Haaland after his social media message following the Vikings’ 2026 FIFA World Cup elimination, losing 2-1 in extra time to England in Miami on Saturday (July 11).
Stale Solbakken’s side had taken the lead after 36 minutes through Andreas Schjelderup’s fabulous cross-shot opener before Jude Bellingham responded for the Three Lions on the cusp of half-time.

An Erling Haaland foul in the build-up led to a Vikings goal being disallowed before Harry Kane’s strike for Thomas Tuchel’s side was chalked off for offside. The Vikings hit the woodwork in the final quarter as extra time ensued, where Bellingham’s second of the night eventually eliminated Solbakken’s side.
Haaland had a quiet outing after four scoring games, getting subbed off after 105 minutes due to exhaustion. Following his team’s FIFA World Cup exit, the 25-year-old posted on X thanking fans for their support:
“It’s been quite a row. Thank you for making it so special.”
Replying to that tweet, Ryanair tweeted:
“Time to row home.”
The Vikings reached the World Cup quarter-finals for the first time by beating five-time champions Brazil 2-1, with Haaland starring with a late brace, while Neymar Junior netted a consolation strike for the Selecao from the spot in stoppage time.

Norway striker Erling Haaland had a fabulous debut campaign at the FIFA World Cup in North America. The Vikings were returning to the competition for the first time in 28 years after topping a qualifying group containing four-time winners Italy.
On his competition debut, the Manchester City marksman scored a brace in a 4-1 campaign-opening win over Iraq. He scored twice again in the next game, this time in a 3-2 victory over Senegal as the Vikings qualified for the knockouts with a game to spare.
Having sat out the 4-1 group-stage defeat to France, Haaland returned to the starting XI and scored a late winner as Stale Solbakken’s side beat Cote d’Ivoire 2-1 in the Round of 32.
The City striker then knocked out Brazil with a late brace, taking his tally to seven goals in four games, before going scoreless in the quarter-final defeat to England on Saturday.
